Amused by twitterstorm. No doubt that his post was racist, but the ratio of calls for him to sacked by the BBC to ejected from the house of lords is comical. Although I'm sure they all know that the shifty little dwarf has only voted four times in the last 3 years.

I'm not sure it's racist at all. I guess it's racial profiling. Is that the same??

You really have to work hard at this 'taking offence lark'.

He has now aplogised.

I don't think it's racist but I don't really think it's particularly funny.

it's applying a negative stereotype to a group of people based on their skin colour and appearance.

it is perhaps not hugely offensive, but is definitely racist.

his only excuse could be that sugar originally made his fortune by selling cheap knock-off imitations of better products, arguably employing the same tactics as the people who work on the beaches in marbella. He could therefore argue that he views these individuals in a positive light as they're following the same business plan as him.

its ok to have a negative stereotype of a group of people, or a positive stereotype
but not of individuals

So if Brits are a nation of shopkeepers (Napoleon) that's racist?

Sugar said they were 'resourceful' so not sure where the negativity comes from. Seeling goods to tourists is an honourable profession.

sometimes groups of people , of nations deserve a negative stereotype, sometimes they deserve a positive stereotype

That’s a simple fact

I remember someone got a life ban from the forum for saying Kenywyne Jones was a looky looky man.

It was an imprudent and ill thought out remark but it's hardly a hanging offence I wouldn't have thought.

It might be an Apprentice-ending offence, though I suppose that will leave Lord Sugar more time to count his billion and a half quid.

My guess is that he was passing on someone else's joke because he does not seem like the sort of chap who holidays in Marbella.
