I have had my fair share of losses in the casino. Interestingly I haven't even bothered with the free spin emails I keep getting since about 2 years now(out of a 3 year betting career). I don't know why I am so disgusted at these games but I am. And thank god for that. No limits. No self exclusion.

I did the same years ago. Well, £10 a year, because that doesn't end after 5 years.
I also signed up for as many online casinos as I could find, and still do sometimes, and then self-excluded before playing.
NEVER taking up ANY special offers or incentives to play.

Poker is a card game btw. There is an element of skill, but it is mostly dependent on which cards you get.
Online Poker has had some very (proven) dodgy sites and I would never play that either.

It's yet another very bad side-effect of the existence of the internet and giving hand-held computers to people who have no use for them.

I had no choice aka, when I ticked the casino it auto ticked poker and games as well, I would have signed up with poker stars but they have a casino and at the moment I don't trust myself to not play slots, I did 250 quid last night and what started of as 25p fun spins has quickly became £2 chase spins and its 500 quid down overall, I was getting depressed when I couldn't play last week and that's just wrong on so many levels. if it starts getting people like that then please just self exclude and stop playing. I can only imagine what Fobt players went through .

Around 35 years ago I lost £100 (to win £100) on a fruit machine; my weekly wage was circa £50 at the time. With my last £5 I won it back and it scared me enough to never get involved again. Football and a little poker are my only gambling vices these days and I bet responsibly

Done it myself on a couple of occasions.

The brain chemistry is well defined. If you're susceptible, that's it. No way of breaking it. The majority of casino games are set so that in the long run you cannot win. Then it becomes predator/prey interactions and how long you can keep running.


There is pleasure/anticipation in the taking part. Otherwise why would we bother?


Also banned myself. Won 6k, then lost 7k. Sadly almost no-one can stop at max profit. After we kill all the lawyers, maybe start on the bookmakers? Apart from Paddy, obviously.

Not the slots being hoovers, but the fact they send loads of messages about responsible gambling, even sending messages about playing too much, only to then send another message asking me to deposit and they'll give me a 50% bonus I mean make your minds up

Knowing I can't play as made it easier for me to do other things like watch films, money is safe

The 'responsible gambling' stuff is hilarious. Equivalent to "we'll hold your jacket while you cut your throat so you don't get blood on it."
