After the planting of large GMO Corn Field.
"Once the corn started to get planted our Bees died by the Millions" said local Beekeeper Dave Schuit, this is over 600 Hives.
The reason is because the US Department of Agriculture fails to ban Insecticides known as Neonicotin.

This story dates to 2014.  Since then things have changed significantly with the main nicotinoids banned in Europe, and much of the US.

Sounds like the person choosing which insecticide to use is a bumbling idiot.

Sorry I was wrong. The story dates to 2013 and the "event" occurred in Ontario Canada so has little to do with the US Dept of Ag. Not sure whether you are quoting a source, Terry, or if this is just your own interpretation of events.

So it's utterly f all to do with GMO but a pesticide, but you are using it to complain about GMO?

Fantastic logic.

"no mention it was from 2013" - where did you get your stuff from then?   Doesn't seem a very reliable source if it links it to GMO Corn, fails to mention either the date of the event or the location of the affected beekeeper.

It's not a case of FA to do with GMO ,Monsanto set to lose thar pesky name soon after Bayer buyout but the GM situation is that the crop requires the use of "special"  pesticides and herbicides (wonder who owns the trademarks ) ,the crop is completely resistant to the new chemicals and grows like magic beans and in many cases self pollinates (Monsanto don't need bees and if there was none they would be king  . Don't know about this bee story but the bee keeper with 600 hives is nothing other than a commercial buisiness ,the big commercial honey producers are responsible for a lot of the problems wild bees are facing due to the introduction and spread of mites and disease around the world .                                                  A reasonable figure of 20k bees per hive and if he had 600 hives it's a lot of bees (commercial honey bees) .                          A lot of fraud in the honey buisiness and it's a pretty shameless sector ,even the Manuka honey has been exposed for problems in the total bees/total hives /total honey produced and Total Honey exported differences ,if your paying 30/40/50 a jar it should be the right thing .Non EU And any mixture of is sugary colored water and syrup .                                                 The new pesticides have played a big part in the loss of species ,but others have played a big part too ,it's a multi pronged attack on all pests and bees are collateral damage that won't be missed by the conglomerates that peddle GMO and the potions that are needed to grow it .

It's the kind of half true story that Icke would come up with and Terry is a big fan.
Was also tongue in cheek although I wouldn't be surprised.

FFS, Corn isn't pollinated by Bees ANYWAY, it's wind pollinated. It's the billions of seeds in the wind that gives people "hay fever".
The clue is in the name. Did this need explained?

Bees have absolutely no interest in Corn. And Monsato don't need to create GMO corn crops that don't need bees.
It's like creating a GMO apple tree that doesn't need a USB port.

I think springwatch is assuming too much biology knowledge from it's audience Wink.

I totally agree pesticides can be total b&stards and they are overly used and bad for our ecology but that's a no brainer and sensible.
Spraying lots of chemicals that are designed to kill insects can kill insects, who knew!

Did anyone check for any 5G masts in the area?

Said on the radio that the bee keepers wife invited the local media down to inspect, but nobody attended for fear it could be a honey trap.

Not that it matters much, but my godfather started what is now the biggest Beekeeping business in Sussex. He was a revolutionary, a pioneer, and he never wore gloves or veil.

I would only be able to quote the article I'm afraid nothing more nor less,I'm sure there is plenty of info out there for those interested (we all should be really given the importance of bees to humanity) my EMF interest only goes as far as people for now.

Decided to have a search instead of being completely ignorant, blackbarn you might be interested in this study and have the mental capacity to break it down for the less capable like myself EMF messing with bees is real it seems.

I could be missing something but shirley they would still have similar amounts off children wherever they lived and living in our environment they would be more susceptible to our Western illnesses which will kill them quicker (not counting pointless wars) than usual.

It would be interesting to know if migrants have more children at home or over here it would take a bit of work finding that out,is it possible that despite record numbers of births to foreign parents in the UK that overall the number of TOTAL births could be less than if they were still in their own country?

there is some evidence that after settling, migrant or children of migrants do have less children than their parents etc

but still out breed the long term indigenous families

Its not just the UK of course. Globally, insect abundance has declined by 75% since 1990.Bird populations are on the decline too, everywhere.
"Modern farming and monsatans toxic and carcinogenic pesticides must be devasting flora and fauna alike. Why is there no longer any mention of the 2015 study by the Universities of Keele and Sussex which found that bees are declining because aluminium contaminations is being found in bee colonies at levels that would cause brain damage in humans? Aluminium is highly toxic to inserts, heavy metals are highly toxic to inserts. Peer reviewed studies show whales have alarming levels of aluminium in their bodies, how does this happen? It is geoengineering though large scales of spraying. There is overwhelming evidence that aluminium, barium, strontium and suiphate areosols have been deployed in the atmosphere for some years. I believe that rendering the earth uninhabitable is one of the intended playoffs.
Its time now for the Chris Packhams of this world to start a national conversation on how our land, our rivers, lakes and seas have come to be polluted by heavy metals and how it is extinguishing life on this beautiful planet"
