i dont see why not.  some books are now giving offers for tv races to pay out 2k

i think they will find it sucessful and it will grow, and spread

folk wanting lumpy bets on at 5.30 the night before are unlikely to get much joy.

books have to cover themselves against plot horses so its never going to be uniform

"Flint can be expected to argue that bookmakers have a right to refuse any customer a bet, in the same way that a publican can refuse to serve someone beer. A landlord, though, cannot offer a thimbleful of lager instead of a pint, any more than Tesco is allowed to refuse you a box of cornflakes for £2 but offer a single cornflake for a penny as an alternative." ......Laugh

If bookies thought your business was profitable in the last few years they'd have taken it. Game has changed now and the internet has ensured that the days of bookies having contacts and an edge in knowledge are long gone. We are simply going to see downsizing, cost cutting, mergers but not a sudden swing to take bigger bets from sharper customers.

I think all eyes are on the US now, and the likes of Hills in particular could well throw their hand in here if they think they could steal a march over there.

quite apart from anything else, bookies aren't run by bookies any more. They're run by business studies graduates and they have no idea how betting works.

if there was a time for a strong tote system its now, lower the takeout, stop looking after big hitters, they would beat the sp on most races which will eventually get through to punters and increase pots, sadly baldys run it and the new pool betting firm are going to keep the take out the same so they wont last long

betfair have merged, or are merging, with a us pool betting company,
that specialise in fantasy sport competitions.

they tried talkai before, but these fantasy pools seem quite popular

On course bookies are no better. I was at York this week and it took 3 people to work out my winnings in the race with 2 rule 4s. I had told him what the payout should be, but he 'had to check'. The last guy looked on the computer.
