One person has been killed and several injured in a knife attack in Paris, French police say.
They say the attacker - who has not been identified - was shot dead by police. The incident happened in the Opera district of central Paris. Eyewitnesses spoke of panic, describing people rushing back into restaurants and cafes from the streets. The motive for the attack was not immediately known. The witnesses say police officers first tried to taser the attacker - but then fired two shots after this failed to stop the assailant, France24 reports. From the BBC news site. |

Police shot dead a knifeman in central Paris Saturday night after an attack that saw one victim stabbed to death and another five injured.
Responding to the ongoing incident, officers initially attempted to taser the assailant, but after that failed shot the man dead. The knifeman, who stabbed random passersby was heard to ahout “Allah Akbar” as he struck, reports France’s Le Figaro. Of the injured, two are reported to be in a critical condition. The area around the assault, in Paris’ Second District has been locked down by police. This story is developing |

Several requests for armed officers...delays as the recipient was on lunch break....final despatch, after officers signed out their weapons, and then, on final arrival at the scene, the fear of using them because of investications of excessive force! |

I've never bombed anybody, why should they knife the likes of me? The Government of your Country did. Tens if not hundreds of thousands have died because we did not stand up to America in the Invasion of Iraq and now we are facing the consequences. The power vacuum we created allowed for the emergence of ISIS. We all now have targets on out backs. What business did we have in Iraq? The amount of people killed in the West by these Jihadi's nutters is miniscule compared to the amount that have died or try and come here or to other European countries. Where next for us Iraq? Meanwhile our schools and NHS are underfunded. |
