I've got it on in the background Greg, Clarkson is an absolutely dreadful host. He has got the intelligence and charisma of a rusty paperclip and that's me being polite. (p.s. I hope your placepots are going well

This show was interesting when but first started but it surely past it sell by date, wasn't it 1999 when it first aired?
I mean a million back them seems a helluva lot, now it seems like pocket change in the wider scheme of things, football for example, back them the record transfer was something like 32 million, now it's 197 million and nobody bats an eyelid at a 70 million pound defender! Time for new ideas, or a Who wants to be a Billionaire. |

The thing about these quiz shows is that they prove how ignorant and stupid the general public are.
If I were on millionaire, I would be totally shocked if I didn't win the lot. |

Cornish guy the other night... 'In which county would you find Blackpool Tower?'...
Struggled with the answer, didn't know where Hertfordshire is... Don't think it's in Kent... Guessed at Lancashire. Clarkson said 'People in Arizona know where Blackpool is' ![]() Tbf, Clarkson isn't doing badly on the show, he's being himself. Other countries have this show running (or did).. and most of the presenters try to imitate Tarrant, and fail. I'm no fan of Clarkson, but give him his dues, not a bad performance. |

It would be good if someone could post all the questions that asked and their value for those that missed the show, then we could all have a go at them
![]() btw it's much easier playing from home, I would imagine being in the hot seat for a lot of people they would turn to pot. Depends of life experience really. |

Imagine if the question came up about coastlines
"Which English county has the longest coastline" Apparently the official answer is Essex, most like me would hazard a guess at Devon or Cornwall. |

Johnizere - one factor to take in to consideration is where does the Thames Estuary become the sea? ie coastline or riverbank.
Also, below is a very good point made by a forumite named franzi who rarely posts: Coastline lengths are hard to pin down - it depends how closely you measure them. This is a classic paradox which is explained by fractal dimension, and is true for many geographical boundaries. In this case, knowing the answer which is expected, it is likely a very precise measurement of every nook and cranny would return the crown to the more obvious answer. This is because the expected answer has a 'smoother' coastline than Cornwall. |

Where did they get this bunch of contestants ?! Quality standards seems to have slipped ! Seems to be a lot of lifeline usage pre-the £1,000 question.

Clarkson is better than Tarrant imo, Tarrant was a bit false, Clarkson is more natural, like or loath him.
The way Tarrant used to drag it out to build suspense was always too long as well. |
