The Guardian reported it
'The ‘freedom of speech’ march on Whitehall this weekend was part of an escalation of far-right activity' https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/may/07/far-right-britain-freedom-of-speech |

'Robinson is tapping into that hoary old Nixonian trope, “the silent majority”. Central to these culture wars, then, is who “the majority” is and which groups can claim to speak for it.'
The silent majority are those that voted for Brexit and for Trump and for all the groups in the EU fighting against the EU. Ellie Mae O'Hagan has some very odd views. It is interesting that not once does she actually address the issue of freedom of speech. Instead she rolls out the usual one liners about how bad the 'far right' and 'social conservatives' are using the two terms interchangeably. |

How many marched ...

I notice she put the word 'dangerously' in the title. Who or what does freedom of speech actually put in danger? The only danger I can see is the danger to democracy and individual liberty if we censure freedom of speech. It's pure irony that they call themselves liberals. They're anything but. Labeling people who want freedom of expression as 'far right' is not only wrong but an insult to common decency.

Well, accusing muslims in general of being terrorists has been proven to put individual law abiding people at risk when acquiescent idiots with chips on their shoulder take that lie as a truth.
Maybe the freedom of speech lovers will be campaigning for Abu Hamza's release and for other "clerics" to be allowed to freely declare that all westerners are infidels who should be killed. Laws are there for a reason. |

By:
why not? then we know what he thinks and we can deport him back to a muslim country
|
|
By:
Fair enough. A few innocent people might be blown up or mown down but we deport him so it all balances out eh.
Obviously we still have freedom of speech so there'll be another cleric along to repeat his sermon and as this place has shown there's an endless supply of compliant idiots in the world to follow his suggestions. |
|
By:
That's ok, we don't have to let any muslims in , just deport them
|
|
By:
Ask them openly what they think, let them speak, and if they incite violence against Britain or British people, deport them
|
|
By:
That's it. I've had my quota of stupid for the day.
|
|
By:
someone doesn't like free speech |
|
By:
What if a white brit incites violence against someone. Say an MP, or someone with a different skin colour, or a woman, gay people maybe.
Where do you deport him to? |

By:
I'm not specifically. But if you had uninhibited free speech there'd be no stopping that happening.
|
|
By:
According to some all Leave voters are racist so what's the diff?
|
|
By:
no where, you put him in jail, however it was an attack on Britain and the British people and the and it was still possible he should be deported to Australia

What you must remember always is that Britain is a Christian and secular country
We have no need of anyone in this country who wants to change it |

And so it is good that they can speak freely, then we can know if it is safe to let them stay or not
Whats wrong with that? |
|
By:
Can anyone think of an incident in Britain were muslims had been attacked due to anything that had been said, a speech or anything else
I cant think of any such thing, maybe there has been? |
|
By:
It would be interesting to know, even one clear example
