imo.

The Williams/Hawkins semi-final was one of the best matches in many years, the final just excellent.

Just when you think all sporting events aren't what they once were.

Actually, if you say who was the last welsh winner before Williams. That would be a good Q, imo.

You normally find that such high praise of a major sports event means .......... that you won loads of money on the event!

Well done study

Yes, I_A_W_N.

Usually you'd be right mac, sadly not this time though.
Even more unusually I didn't have ant bets on the entire event!!!

Ray Reardon was the best Welsh player ever and he was a wonderful person and ambassador for the game. Great laugh was Ray.

I used to follow snooker big time and had drinks with all the major players back in the days, but I lost interest when all the characters disappeared and were replaced by clones.

Casual watcher now, used to watch all the time in the 80s/90s. Did anyone think this could happen? I thought he was all washed up now and ready to call it a day. Study - any chance of A World cup comp?

besides better tables, bigger pockets, better balls ,cues etc the games is exactly the same as when joe davis played, but to make the umpteen pundits, davis, parrot, mcmanus, ken doc, taylor, virgo, etc, etc earn their keep ,they now make out the game to be something it isn't regards tactics, tecnique etc, banging on the last 2 days about the finishing position of the cue after a bog standard safety shot,

Hank. I'd love to do a World Cup comp, but I've had some words with the forum people, so I doubt any prize fund would be forthcoming.
Likewise the Open Golf. I missed the darts, the snooker and Cheltenham and I guess that many forum users did too.
I'll think about it. Maybe if there are any other requests. I'll start a thread asking if it's wanted.

Wit-ham, you want a game of snooker then? Grin

I beat a bloke (and later friend)  in the annual Christmas handicap tourny at work.He turned over Joe Johnson regularly in the Bradford WMC league.

Surprised akabula isn't here. He had a top break of 87.

I haven't watched if for years but did follow Williams in his semi and then the final. Fantastic fare indeed.

How he recovered from missing 'that' pink I'll never know.

Joe doesn't need a sunbed. He's half Pakistani. lol

Interesting fact about me and Joe.

My late beloved and first cat, Cleo, once belonged to his son's girlfriend's mum. She asked me to keep her when she went into flats and couldn't take her with her. Her daughter had moved to a house near me and her mum came to help and brought Cleo with her. The cat not knowing the area kept getting lost and I took care of her until I found out who the owner was. Her mum moved into a flat a few weeks later.

Fascinating story I'm sure you'll agree.

My mate John Walsh was a terrific snooker player and a teenage Joe provided no real problem for him in their contests in the late 60s although John didn't win them all. Would have been a different story if he played Joe  a few years later when he'd become a world class p;layer.
