RIP Sad

Sad story that reduced me tears while driving. Its a shame he was not given a chance to go to Italy and have a chance however small. The parents not the state should make these kind of decisions.

My wife died ten years ago several times. Was revived and given next to no chance of surviving by doctors. She is still with me today. Never give up hope and never stop trying.

true alfie should have been given a chance might have been a million to one chance but he should have been given that chance of lifeSad
Report CLYDEBANK29 April 28, 2018 10:52 AM BST
He didn't have a million to one chance.  It was a zero chance.
Report InsiderTrader April 28, 2018 10:54 AM BST
Nothing is a zero chance.

Italy gave him citizenship.

The Vatican offered him treatment.

Doctors were willing and paid for to fly him to Italy.

The British state stopped him going.
Report CLYDEBANK29 April 28, 2018 10:57 AM BST
In any event it's about saving as many people as possible with the resources available.  You use resources to save one in a million cases, one in ten cases aren't going to get the help they need.

Very pleased that your wife pulled through Insider.

Plenty of things are zero chance.  There's zero chance I'll play for England in the World Cup.
Report the.mad.dog.man April 28, 2018 11:01 AM BST
clydebank29 doctors also gave that boy about 3years ago a zero chance where his dad had to kidnapp his own son and take him abroad for treatment hes now running around with his friends and is clear of cancer hope the doctors there were sack
Report InsiderTrader April 28, 2018 11:01 AM BST
Thanks. Me too.

In this case the air ambulance, people to run it and the foreign treatment were already sorted so it was not a resources issue.

In case you hadn't noticed we have an independent judiciary, who heard from both sides and made a decision, but then again as your type call judges "enemies of the people", I suppose it isn't a surprise.

British doctors had given up. In Italy...

Mariella Enoc, chief of Bambino Gesù Hospital, said a plane was ready to collect the child.

She told Italian media: “We are ready, the plane is at Rome Ciampino Airport with the doctors on board.

“The Italian Embassy in England is also looking for an ambulance to take the boy from the hospital to the airport.

“The airplane, I repeat, is ready to take off at Ciampino, the doctors and the equipment are there, the team is ready.”

As I stated on another thread we all Live in Hope and will Die in Despair .. The trip to Italy was in place no reason not to

let him go ,If he died on route what Difference he would have had Medical staff with him ..

Thousands of people sitting around care homes etc practically Brain Dead they do not even know what day it is , If you want to

save the NHS money start there ....

Aysha King was denied treatment by the NHS for a Brain tumour because 'there was nothing they could do'.

Parents took them to the Czech Republic for  proton beam therapy, now the tumour has gone and he's fighting fit.

Unfortunately in this case it was cruelty keeping him alive. I would like to think in the same situation I would have the strength to let go, but can imagine with the emotion of your own child involved, you take leave of your senses and try anything and everything.

Take each case on it's merits.

The baby had a degenerative brain disease. Scans showed practically all of his brain tissue and been destroyed.
There was absolutely zero chance of ' recovery' . He had only been kept ' alive' by machines.

Very dad, but all talk of treatment and hope, was delusionary.

Yet the Italian doctors took a different view from the medical information available.

@insider trader presumably their italian doctors were just as qualified as their russian lawyer. who by the way should be deported imo.

In court, Pavel Stroilov, the Christian Legal Centre law student representing Alfie’s parents, came in for the most searing criticism this week. He was described by Hayden as a “fanatical and deluded young man” whose submissions to the court were “littered with vituperation and bile” that was “inconsistent with the real interests of the parents’ case”.

A Russian exile who has worked as a researcher for the current Ukip leader, Gerard Batten, since 2011, Stroilov was behind the attempt by Alfie’s parents to pursue a private prosecution for murder against three Alder Hey doctors.

So you would not wish for your child to be treated at Ospedale Pediatrico Bambino Gesù?

If you lived in Rome you would say 'no thanks I want to go somewhere else'?

That is fine. But why deny people who do want to be treated at a top European children's hospital if the parents wish?

Why make out I am lying saying I cried because this story people phoning in on LBC reminded me of how my own wife died and was written off and survived?

You are indeed a heartless person. You see everything in black and white. You accept the status quo and never question anything. Do you believe in anything outside of what you see in front of your face or people with degrees tell you are the facts?

Because people might begin to realise that our NHS is not all it's cracked up to be.

Does anyone know the reason given for refusing transportation to Italy?
Would all future costs be borne by the Italian hospital or would open-ended costs be referred back to UK taxpayers?
