You should drink when you're thirsty, not to regulate the colour of your pee.

If you drink a pint of water during the morning/day and a pint during the evening before you go to bed your urine will be relatively clear and not pungent in the slightest regardless of what else you have imbibed.

I can't think about urine colour without thinking about that fantastic story a few years ago where a man in the middle east who ran a shop had been selling camel piss (which apparently they drink) to people, and was filling the bottles himself. And apparently they could tell how dehydrated he was that day due to the colour .
