It started Sunday morning when my partner discovered a fully-armed large, black, hairy adult Jihadi Longlegs brazenly resting on the side of one of the speakers.  I thought about calling the UN but decided this was no time for jaw-jaw and instead launched a magazine strike, reducing the terrorist to a smear.  Since then I have also come across two juveniles, neither of which were a match for the Father of All Slippers.  Last year was fairly peaceful.  I hope this year follows suit.

Don't kill them just put them out they clear out all the horrible insects for free Grin
The big Black ones are House Spiders and harmless, just beware of false widows which are on the rise you'll recognise them by the skull and crossbones on their backs.

I know the first line sounds silly but it gets them out of your space then they come back in do their job and you put them out again (if you don't like them near you) Grin.

If you kill small defenceless creatures for no reason then they will invade your dreams giving you terrible nightmares !

Killing spiders is just wrong on every possible level. I'll pick them up and put them in my garden or if they have set up home and have a web then I just let them carry on doing their spidey stuff til they get bored and move on to pastures new.

A good way to pick them up is with a glass and a stiff piece of card if you're a bit squeamish....oc

Killing harmless uk house spiders is nothing to proud of. Maybe if it was the australian venemous bollock nipper you might have a case.

The problem with spiders is that the phobias are very real. If you haven't got a phobia you would not understand.

we have serious confrontations with them but eventually triumph with a jar and card and find them a nice place outside

I put House Spiders in the garden but I took my last 3 False Widows to a nearby woods,I know they're not aggressive but can bite when trapped i.e if you rolled on top of one in bed Grin
