No problem. I’m not saying that’s the best time for everybody, some people may prefer to go in the evening but it works for me.

I've been researching exercise and sleeping recently as I've been having a lot of trouble getting to sleep, although I'm fine once I knock off. From what I've uncovered the best time to exercise is around 4pm for this purpose.

Personally I prefer to run around noon when it's not dark outside and I get some vitamin D as well
I've heard that late afternoon is the best time of the day if you are trying to beat your personal best. No need to worry that running late at night will make it harder to fall asleep, because it doesn't. Physical excercise in general promotes better sleep (maybe late afternoon is best for that purpose as Aspro says, but other times of the day aren't bad). |

‘as I've been having a lot of trouble getting to sleep, although I'm fine once I knock off’. You didn’t leave a word out there did you Aspro?! |

I would avoid late exercise if your recovery rate isn't up to scratch especially in summer you'll struggle to sleep with your heart rate up and the early light will be a killer also.

Most of my exercise is done just before sleep and quite often just after waking.

I got my 2 lots of exercise in.... I'm getting out of bed now.

I lift weights in the evening, after 9pm if possible. The reason being I am soon entering a sleep period of 8 hours which means my body can get straight on with the recovery. As well as resting, sleep is also when your body produces the growth hormone.

When you feel like it is the quick answer.
Id depends on what you are trying to achieve. If you simply want to maintain a level of fitness that doesn't catch you out of breath after climbing stairs for instance, then very little exercise is needed. Just go for a couple of walks a day. If you like to look at yourself in the mirror then more extreme measures have to be considered if you're trying to build muscle. Your diet is far more important than a lot of exercise for general well being. |

There's never a good time for strenuous exercise. An invigorating walk in the afternoon, provided the weather isn't too inclement, refreshes mind and body and is a good idea.

If you're trying to lose weight, I'd suggest going for a walk before breakfast while your body is still burning fat, to keep the fat burning going for as long as possible.
Never mind the press ups later in the day when you're running on carbs, that's just a waste of time. |

I was going to go for a jog but ate a bit of cow instead.

CM if you are going to exercise hard and get your heart rattling it might help to do as much of your daily work as you can first.
I had trouble concentrating after working out early morning then trying to study horse races in hindsight I wasn't fit so recovery was poor but it definitely had an effect punting wise. |
