Balanicing sides a big factor as your pelvis can move and cause nerve issues by moving as little as 1mm.

I wish it was as easy as flat shoes, I spend 40 quid a pop quite regularly with an osteopath, not even tax deductible Sad

It's a thing you don't appreciate until it happens to you the back is involved in everything,it's about 4 1/2 years since my last bad episode but I've been affected ever since it controls my life to a certain degree.

I had to stop playing squash because of back pain, I had locked facet bones in my lower spine and although the osteopath eased the acute agony after many sessions it was never to be the same and although I did persevere I can't play again. I loved my squash but that ship has sadly sailed for me Sad Just getting older and wear and tear and not the recovery rate that I once had.

It's funny how you don't notice how many muscles are used going around doing daily activities. Like when I pulled my groin, and kept getting pain twinges doing nothing .. ."groiny", but the groin was obviously being activated.

Had a terrible time with a slipped disc a few years ago,had to give up squash too and looked 20 years older. Eventually needed micro surgery to trim the disc protrusion but the feedback was always that we spend 2/3 of our lives in shoes and 1/3 in bed and should buy top quality stuff. Blindingly obvious but 50 years too late for me,fine now and whizzing around the squash courts slippy !

all you have to do is wear flat shoes.

Do you mean as opposed to six inch heels?

The only true flat footwear is "flip-flops" I think, but aren't most shoes (for men) almost flat, in today's fashion?
I don't wear shoes in the house, so isn't that equal to flat shoes?

Brassneck has clearly never suffered a damaged disc or he would not post such flippant nonsense.

flat shoes don't cure the bad back but they ease the pain when you walk.something to do with the shape of the bones, and the pressure a person puts on their back when they walk but according to bad back experts most say proper footwear can ease pain in a high percentage of complaints.

so i am sure there is such a thing as bad back shoes on the market."if not ,there is a big opening for someone in the shoe business"

Sounds like bollocks? What is true however is a people can concentrate on their back when they should pay more attention to their front. If you've good abdominal strength/core and good posture you can take a lot of strain off your back.
