Apparently these can take out a football travelling at the speed of sound at a distance of 200 miles. One battery of these can take out multiple incoming targets in one go. Putin has these all around Russias major cities which must make him super confident of doing what he likes. No wonder the west is taking its time with Syria. Just think if every thing the west fired at Syria got taken out by the S400s , then what ...Russia is the sole super power.

The thing about these systems is they will be active so the radar part at least can be seen by other planes very easily from a great distance, when operating, there is an entire class of weapon whose entire jobs is to home in on such radars... Of course if they are operated by Russians and you kill them, this is not a clever move.

I can't imagine the US would be happy at russians blowing up their air defences and I'd imagine the feeling would be reciprocated...
