The idea of any treatment that affects people physically would act as a strong deterrent.
Is the treatment permanent?

Of course the bleeding-hearts and offenders rights brigade would be out in force.

And we would have to be careful which offences would qualify for treatment.
We don't want the farce we have at the moment, where schoolchildren find themselves on the sex offenders register for distributing pictures of their underage girlfriend to friends.

Looks like a voluntary scheme to me (shame)

Of course the bleeding-hearts and offenders rights brigade would be out in force.

You know it... and they would win

you don't have to be that much of a bleeding heart to have reservations. it's hard to get inside the mind of someone
who claims they cannot control their urges tho. i use the bible (hardback), but i've never actually read it Silly

It's not something that can be solved physically imo.
You can stop a person, render him or her physically incapable, from doing something but you can't stop them from thinking it.
How do you fix a warped mind?
That is the question.

You don't even try, you simply carry on and implement your extreme measures.

Some will not be deterred by anything that might be done to them. Those types are always with us.
Nevertheless plenty would be deterred.
What it would achieve is to bring the numbers of offenders down to more manageable levels.

it has been proven beyond doubt that you can find reasons and amend behaviour but it is very time consuming
and expensive. a rusty butter knife is cheaper

I was thinking about this criminal with convictions as long as your arm who got killed by that old geezer.....

Wonder if they chopped off a finder per conviction after his second how many more robberies he would have committed.

Even if he was thick, he might have seen the folly of his ways when left with only one finger.

Robberies? i assume you meant fingers? you could definitely cut robberies if you mutilate offenders but do we really want to go down
that route.
