In an interview with Associated Press from northern Syria, Elsheikh said the "illegal" withdrawal of their UK citizenship put them at risk of "rendition and torture".

Break enough laws and you go to jail. I agree the change in legislation i.e. hate laws and incitement can lead to the jailing of mere speakers, not criminals.

You should never be happy that the government has arbitrary powers to deal with people that you don't like.
Because down the line there will be nothing to stop them using those powers against people you do like. Also it is naive to think the removing citizenship is part of some Jihadi crackdown. May is just scared that if these guys come back here we won't have enough evidence to convict them and they will end up walking the streets with new identities to protect them from reprisals etc There is no danger the Kurds will find them not guilty whatever the evidence. And once Brexit happens Tommy Robinson will pop over to Poland to speak to some far right types and find that his citizenship is in the shredder and he can't come home. Then people on here will ask 'how can they do that.....? |
