there are some confusing issues about age in France but they say she was a minor so they must know what they are doing
there were two cases of people getting away with it - one recently I believe. |

Under the existing legislation, if there is no violence or coercion proved, offenders may only be charged with sexual abuse of a minor and not rape. This has a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a fine of €75,000 (£66,000; $87,000). |

For me sex with an under 14 year old is rape whatever the circumstances. Consensual sex with a 14 or 15 year old should be sexual abuse and not rape if the age gap ia over 3 years, although sex with a 14 or 15 year old relative would be rape. I realise 15 is the relevant age in France |

The age of consent was set at 11 in 1832, at 13 in 1863. In 1942, the age of consent for homosexual acts was set at 21, while that for heterosexual acts was still 13. The latter was increased to 15 in 1945. In 1974, the age for homosexual acts was lowered to 18. In 1982, it was lowered to 15, in line with that for heterosexual acts.
She would have been almost 15 according to my reckoning. |
