In my youth the black lads stuck together, it is something that struck me watching the recent documentary "Being Blacker" there was a fella about my age complaining that the third/fourth generation have no respect for their culture or their skin colour. Mind you I don't think it is something limited to the black community. You may of been a bit cheeky to someone but I can't remember adults being scared of the youth the way they are today

Yep in my day if a fella was after you and you were with your bird (can you say bird these days) it was went without saying he'd wait until he caught you on your own. Today they'd not only kick the sh1t out of you but the girl as well. Mind you thinking back maybe it wasn't an unwritten rule. I did go out with some horrors and maybe the fellas didn't fancy their chances

Have to say the black youth do get a bad press walk into any McDonald's in London the majority of the staff will be black kids just trying to earn an honest crust and get on with their lives. The great shame they have a real concern at night just trying to get home safely.

Back in the 80's (during the war) I used to work on the Hackney estates collecting insurance premiums for the Pru; it was my area. Imagine trying to do that today?

Standard Have gone with the Monthly Figure Tooting stabbing: Nineteen killings this month as man is found dead in south London flat 

I suppose it pales in comparison but three lads mid teens stabbed in Littlehampton today one left with life changing injuries what's up with these kids, whatever happened to a good old punch up

I am sick and tired of all this knuckle dragging Sun inspired anti diaspora propaganda.

It is simply a cultural thing and they will eventually settle down.  I read it in the guardian.

Once they have drawn tribal lines.

Some of these kids are in a no-way-out situation. They are dragged into it by their peers. I have no idea how this can be resolved; I wish I did.

- part of my familiarisation and subsequent love of the sea.
