If you like spicy, and you don't mind tinned, then for a quick snack try Ye Old Oak Fiery Chilli Hotdogs... they pack a punch and I'm a Vindaloo man.

I made the mistake of buying an Asda own label meat product once. I had one bite then cut out the middle man and flushed it straight down the toilet!

I always think the expensive sausages must be the best, but I still prefer the cheaper ones. The ordinary Tesco pork sausages are a decent enough banger.

Those cumberlands a bit strong for me. I'll stick with the lincolnshire sausages.

The key to a good saus is meat content. Cheaper ones can have less than 50%. A saus has got to be at least 80% for me.

Being a registered coeliac I go for the Asda range of gluten free sausages. Very high meat content and absolutely delicious. Not cheap, but that goes for pretty much all gluten free food. Expect to pay double the price for gluten free alternatives.

By:
I used to be a coeliac. The availability of food-stuff is much better than it was a couple of years ago. There's a greater awareness of the condition nowadays.
|
|
By:
ericster - what do you mean 'you used to be a coeliac'? If you're a coeliac, you are born with it and you have it for life, but keep well by sticking to a strict gluten free diet.
That's what the specialist said to me at the end of my 2.5 weeks in hospital back in 1997. I'm VERY susceptible to even the slightest trace of gluten in food/drink, so obviously I have to be very careful when eating, but as you say, the labeling on food these days is far better than it was 20 years ago. |

A nice drop of gravy goes down particularly well with a sausage. Thick beefy stuff, none of your jus thanks.
