Hard to have sympathy for a drunk driver in his life position mental illness or not,he's not the only person to ever go through 'bad times' why should he get special treatment.

Mental health issues, marriage break-up, in rehab last year, hooked on painkillers, lost soul at the moment..... but no excuse for drink driving ! A 3-year-old child in hospital, had his mother in the car, and whatever his excuses, there is no excuse for putting other people at risk.

Anyone who knows that part of South West London, Lower Richmond Road in Mortlake, will know that at 4.00 in the afternoon the traffic will be absolutely heaving with parents doing the school run and untold amounts of pupils walking about as well. This bloke is driving around out of his head crashing into other cars which is just unforgivable and he's lucky that, as it appears, there have been no very serious injuries to other road users and pedestrians.

He failed the roadside breathalyser test, and they kept him for 10 hours at the station, so it's very likely he failed the drink test at the cop shop as well.

It's tough at the top.

He might have failed some other tests also, if he's 'slipped'.

I blame the 'wellies'!

He must have been seriously hammered earlier, seeing as he had been out walking dogs afterwards, or did he carry a hip flask, or stop at a convenient hostelry for a top up, before heading home?

And, as for his mother, surely she must have known what a state he was in, so why didn't she stop him from driving, or maybe she wasp!$$es also!

I've just been speaking to a guy who got banned for drink driving about 10 years ago - well sort of
He got caught with his car keys in his hand with the car door open when he got a tap on the shoulder from a policeman.
He got a 3 year ban,100 hours community service and had to take his test again yet didn't do anything like McPartlin he never even got into his car but was a known drinker who got grassed up.The sentencing should be interesting a small fine (pointless) and ban look likely.

You don't loose control of a car and smash into 3 cars after a Couple of Pints , He is off his Skull on Whatever ,as stated only lucky people Not badly injured or Dead .

my brother in law was drunk driving,10 years or so ago,  smashed car up with two bairns in back, got fine and ban

Sickeningly the victim said he didn't even bother to ask how they were after he crashed into the back of them. A witness said he tried a dangerous overtaking maneuver and came hurtling around the corner.

So he was more than 2 x legal limit and dangerous driving. And showing no remorse.

What a society we live in when the well heeled can do what they like. If that was you or I we would be looking at a lengthy ban plus possible prison. Most definitely community service.

This reckless 1diot gets a fine he can pay from his petty cash and has to hire a driver for a year with the remainder of his petty cash. Big fecking deal.
