Its more than the NHS in my opinion, I don't think they give two hoots about the health service. they want another cold war which will keep us all in a permanent state of anxiety, and some of them would be more than happy to let nukes fly, esp the likes of Lindsey Graham. the nhs is more of a distraction anyway.

They want the 'perception' of fear and threat As SontaranStratagem says 'they want another cold war which will keep us all in a permanent state of anxiety' This makes us far easier to control as a country and tries to give everyone a common enemy whether there's any truth in it or not.

Ok, I can sort of buy that side of it rather than a conventional war and the idea of people living in fear are easier to control.
I wonder if they'll use this as a distraction or excuse to postpone brexit. Worst time to isolate ourselves from our friends and neighbours, can't risk reducing spending on defence etc.

Imagine your daughter coming home with him argh!!!!!!!!!!!!
He has nailed the election so why go on the attack - it is virtually a declaration of war if HE did sanction the hit.

Of course Dictators can get paranoid - needs to bolster his image etc ?? You would think with his corrupt regime fixing the election by eliminating opponents and banning organisations he would get there easily. (Turkey is another example.) So why go would Putin go further. There are some indicators the economy is not going so well and there is the old rich/poor gap as well in Russia.

As someone who lived through the cold war, I must say, it didn't bother me that much. I was well aware of the Political situation, but I never thought for a second that there would be any real threat of a nuclear war. Anyone else feel that way? Young people could forgiven for thinking that we all wnet through the 70's and 80's in a state of fear. Far from it in my case.
