Jim Bowen RIP

Bulls Eye Jim ? thought he was dead Years back

Still on Challenge every day

Remember him from The Comedians, before Bullseye!

look at what you could have won. rip jim.

RIP Jim, legend of 80's tv.

all about the 2 in a bed

Did an after dinner gig at my local rugby club, mainly about the outakes/ mishaps/ thicko's on bullseye. Came across as a bit racist tbh and of course tried to top up his appearance money by flogging signed copies of his book. That lasted all of a minute when he realised nobody was interested.

how lovely and gratifying  to die in the knowledge that he had offended cooperman and his rugby pals and filled them with bad opinions of himself

just saw this now, bullseye was a massive part of my childhood, RIP jim

All "The Comedians " now dead ? All the good ones anyway.

Harmless fun from a bygone era. I can't see people talking in 30/40 years time about some of the current crop of so called comedians and characters off the TV. RIP Jim.

you have to be racist to be a good comedian

Gave me a few chuckles

RIP Jim.

Was watching him on Bullseye only last night.

A massive shock to hear the news, as he appeared in fine fettle.

I guess it is recorded up north somewhere as all the audience and competitors appeared to be in some sort of hairstyle and fashion time warp.

All three teams turned down the chance of winning the start prize - first time it had happened in 7 series said Jim.

The third team had only won £200 but still didn't go for it.

Mind you it was a dinner table, sideboard and dinner service, so they probably made the right decision.

I watched it also amazing scenes though wasn't the first time that had happened

Sometimes you wish some of todays 'comedians' were dead.

We live in hope that a speedboat awaits the Kindly Gent.

I'm not saying Jim was a good comedian because he wasn't but today's comedy is tragically bad and far too PC.
I used to go to comedy gigs with my brothers and have turned down all offers the last couple of years.

JIM had a serial Killer on the Programme

Really who?

Just looked it up

john William Cooper (born 3 September 1944) is a serial killer from Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire, Wales. On ...

Bullseye was always good for a laugh thanks to Jim. RIP.

the speedboat would have come in handy for him

Came across as a bit racist tbh

So everybody walked out?

If you didn't then you're the same.

Sat there laughing until the tears came, then said he was racist - lol.

Jim turns up at the pearly gates and to his surpise, right in front of him, it's Stephen H. Made whole and healthy again.
He's over the moon. They go to the bar in heaven and start celebrating. A night in heaven is 10 years so it was quite a night.
About 41,000 bottles of Chateaux Barnabus.
They wake up to Jesus knocking on the door and are horrified to find .. things happened in their drunken stupour.
Jim cries "I'm so sorry, nothing like this never happened on Earth, I don't know what happened .. what will be our punishment?"

Jesus smiles and says "You Jim should know, of ALL people. You're fine. You get nothing for two in a bed."

Seriously though this is good:

Certainly was referred to a guest on his radio show as a ''nig nog'' that's all you need to know about someone..

I actually appeared on one of the Bullseye shows (for my sins).
Condolences to his family, but I have to say he didn't make much of an impression on me or the other contestants
that day.
We won a car, just for info.

Talbot Horizon?

ford fiesta.   nap.

come on john ... we are all in suspenders here !!

Peugeot 205

If anybody is remotely interested, I had a phone call from the producer of Bullseye about 2 weeks after the show was recorded, and he offered cash instead of the car, which at the time was £5,600. Of course I accepted the offer.
In those days, which was 2001, the maximum prize value any tv quiz/show could award was £10,000, hence the other prizes were of such little value, which meant that IF contestants won all the 'Bully' prizes, PLUS the star prize, it wouldn't exceed the limit. It would also include a possible
larger sum of cash winnings in the other rounds. We won just 280 in cash, and a few other prizes as well.

Cheers johnizere interesting posts

2001?

super, smashing, lovely, grave.

Ken Dodd, Steven Hawkin and now Jim Bowen..............a bit ironic that he was the treble rip

Yes Denzil ... 2001.

It only ran to 1995 to my knowledge until they brought back the Dave Spikey one

Production

From Series 1 to 9, the show was recorded at ATV/Central House in Broad Street, Birmingham. In Series 10, it moved to Central's purpose-built studios at Lenton Lane in Nottingham, where it remained until its first demise in 1995. The Challenge revival was recorded at the Yorkshire Television studios in Leeds, and the Gameshow Marathon one-offs were produced at the London Studios.

From wiki

They stopped making the Peugeot 205 in 1998 I think you've lost some years somewhere johnizere

1990... jeez I'm losing the plot!
Recorded at Lenton Lane studios. Our 'pro' dart player was Alan Warriner, and the other show they recorded that day (they did 2 shows a day) had Jocky Wilson.

The episode where Warriner was a contestant has just been on tonight
