Manchester Piccadilly railway station has been closed after protesters stormed the railway lines.
Campaigners are blocking the tracks and some have tried to climb overhead line equipment, National Rail said. Crowds of people are holding banners which read "stop Turkey from helping ISIS terrorists".
Virgin Trains said services running to and from the station may be cancelled, delayed or terminated until further notice. A National Rail statement said: "A trespass incident at Manchester Piccadilly is causing disruption to trains at the stations. "Trains may be amended, cancelled or delayed."
Strange.

Who would have thought that the fine people of Manchester spend their Sunday afternoons needlessly disrupting travellers, protesting in railway stations about, erm, Turkey?
To the best of my knowledge it’s never even come up as a talking point on ‘Coronation Street’ before. Even that noted political analyst/barmaid Liz McDonald has remained silent on the issue.
I know there’s no United match there today, but wouldn’t the protestors be better off standing outside Old Trafford?
It is after all virtually compulsory for all UK media outlets to have a reporter standing outside the ground at all times, offering a ready microphone and media platform for every passing halfwit with an imagined grievance.
The ‘protestors’ would probably be far better off listening to The Stone Roses eponymous 1989 debut album, watching that “24 Hours Party People” film one more time, or just pretending that they used to go to the Hacienda right from the opening night.
I fear it will be a case of “Strangeways Here We Come” for a few of them later. The cells will surely be full to bursting of people named Stephen Marr, Johnny Morrissey, Bez Ryder, Ian Squire and John Brown tonight.

What the Shipmaning, Bradying, Hindleying, Phelaning hell has all this 'protest' got to do with Manchester Piccadilly railway station? They might as well have gone to Betty's Tea Rooms, Harrogate, and at least enjoyed a nice cream tea as well for their troubles.
