The media keep saying these parties are "Pope-ulist".
Just typical of our leftie media, having a go at Italians for being catholics but never that other religion! ![]() ![]() |

Very much underreported by the left wing media.Headline news if Renzi's mob had triumphed.

If you ask people to vote for continuing a situation they are sick of, or vote for someone who will change the situation these things will happen. Better to not make such division arise in the first place, governments never seem to understand this until it is too late.

Interesting times.

The Beeb even have an article called "What is Populism?" 'Populism' seems to have overtaken "protest vote" as the buzzword in the Confused Left society.
|
|
By:
I read that too, they try and label everything other than why they won the most votes.

By:
I haven't looked populism up tbh, but is the opposite of populism, punishing your citizens?

By:
Populism = Democracy that I don't like.
|
|
By:
Well Unpopulism doesn't sound very appealing.
|
|
By:
It certainly does not, and increasing numbers of people appear to have had enough of it.

The scary thing is how we're not learning from history. So many dictatorships started this way. This is how the Nazis won power. They didn't have a socialist bone in their body, but realised that by calling themselves that and by promising easy solutions to the public's problems then they could dupe them into supporting them. Once you've got them onside then you've already got their trust and can simply convince them to blame your perceived enemy if things aren't improving quick enough.

Yep the Italians being duped just like the Americans and the British. The general public really aren't very bright.

By:
It does get a tad repetitive when they always mention the Nazis and that history WILL repeat itself. Like a stuck record.

The situation in Italy is a warning to all. Ignore it at your peril. We know where this particular story ends and it is unpleasant.
The warnings not to repeat history are for us all not just those who have been " duped " if you will. The first warning is to the Eurocrats. Their project could come apart at the seams very quickly. Free movement of peoples is a nonsense and an influx of millions of people into Europe in an uncontrolled way does not augur well. They have not addressed either issue. Obviously the Politicans will have to think about their sinecures and Gravy train ending abruptly although that does not seem a great loss to us anyway. The people who are most vunerable are the ordinary people who just want to get on with their lives. The abandonment of the center will leave a vaucuum like we have seen in the certain Middle East countries. The quasi religious political zeal will be all encompassing and frightening and VIOLENT. Truth will be the biggest victim. Beware of false prophets! |
