The George Michael / Elton John live version of 'Don't let the sun go down on me'
This version hit the #1 spot in 1991 and despite some cringe worthy vocal contributions from George, somehow won a grammy award for best vocal performance
The original 1974 studio version by a solo Elton John could only manage #16 in the UK charts.
No Doubts 'Its my life' all though a good version was not in the same leagues as Talk Talks whose version never got in the top 40 first time round but was a more successful hit when re-released later on to support a greatest hits CD.

In the states Celine Dion's version of The Power of Love got to #1 where the original only got to #57. How anyone can say the Dion's version is better than Jennifer Rush is beyond me.

But then i heard Dolly Parton's original and it is pretty good tbf

Eilert's post-Neolithic, indominaticus uxorem, not to mention in flagrante delicto, quad-track re-working of Elvis Presley's fine, but let's face it, sans culottes, cover of Chuck Berry's Johnny B Goode, was in fact the work of a man 3 minutes ahead of his time.

Although it’s not the original, The Righteous Brothers version of Unchained Melody is considered the standard - it reached number 14 in 1965. Bothe Robson & Jerome and Gareth gates had number 1 hits with their execrable versions in the 90s.
