A 53-year-old man and a 41-year-old woman are being held on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink driving. Ba$tards. God help their poor parents. Unthinkable grief.

Absolutely heartbreaking beyond words, the couple in the car actually fled the scene and were later arrested. How can they possibly live with themselves for taking the lives of two innocent kids?

The government continually waffles around this topic - all crime is easily solved by serious tough deterrent and no poncy sentences, they just have to ignore the cost of keeping the unclean in prison (which is why sentencing always seems lenient).

There are those who will bleat they would have done it anyway but I don't believe they would of if the minimum sentence was 30 years. As my grandmother says, once you had the birch you wouldn't do it again.

Pedos, guns, knives, drink driving, muggers, burglars, all to be tarred with the same brush, no use to society and should all be locked up for 30 years no parole !

There should be more public information films about driving. Standards are SO bad now compared with a few years ago.

Use of indicators. Mirror, signal, manoeuvre. Stay on your own side of the road. No using the phone AT ALL. and so many others.

Then the heavy sentences - because there'd be no surprise when 30 years was given for an awful crime like this.

Not sure what the maximum sentence will be in this case but I'd bet it aint anywhere near what it should be.
Anyone drink driving is endangering other road users lives and apart from a sentence for this should lose their licence for life if over a certain limit or for a second offence.
By:

When: 23 Feb 18 23:18
In cases like this it should be a lifetime ban from driving as well as a long custodial sentence.
By:
SlippyBlue
When: 23 Feb 18 23:32
Akabula, I would give the drunk driver at least a 12 year custodial if I were the judge.

Two young lives ended due to selfish uncaring people - this has really upset me. When you see pictures of the happy little fellas and listen to their grandad describing  them, it's too much. Life is shyte sometimes.

Drunk drivers if caught should be charged with more than being over the limit, something along the lines of attempted manslaughter, basically its  using a lethal weapon without being in control, of course no such charge will ever come into being but something along those lines should, until it does your always get selfish barstewards drinking & driving without a thought for anyone but themselves.

Heart wrenching  loss of two  siblings so young and innocent but struggling to find any real facts of how they died and if they were crossing the road or on pavement ,everyone has the driver convicted but so few tangible facts other than driver and passenger fled the scene and driver been charged with dr10 . Some media outlets calling it a hit and run others saying the driver and passenger fled the scene ,can it be both ?                                                                                                                 It's not impossible  the driver had little chance to avoid collision but that defence is no longer an option due to excess alcohol consumption .Looked a high speed impact  and if convicted I hope they throw the key away and convict the passenger too but some basic info needed first .Roads have always been dangerous places for children ,as mentioned the current competency of driving is severely lacking in some groups and if this accident was an elderly lady or a young teenage  girl the coverage might be different ,driver could be just over the limit ,had no choice but to flee scene due to fear of being killed and he could have had no chance to avoid collision .

whatever you say BNB. we can all see your post. it was the kids' fault. the driver and associate were merely acting out of self-preservation.

are chances of that ?

i posted above re the change when passed to life, but if the old law is still in place the max is 14 years

i'm not sure how the loss of two lives will be viewed if the judges hands are tied and this idiot gets 14 or less

Lock them up and throw away the key.

The 53 yo accused of causing the death of the two boys was in court yesterday.
The case had to be adjourned because the accused was shouting obscenities at the judge.
"This is a f***ing kangaroo court" and "Your a p***k". he screamed.
Will be reconvened via a video link. Obviously no remorse whatsoever. C**t.

9 years for him, 6 months for her. Both 4 times legal limit for cocaine (I would've presumed legal limit was zero, but apparently not.) No licence, obviously no insurance, 30 previous convictions for driving without said licence or insurance, and fled scene. No mention of alcohol in report I saw tbf.

I'm a pinko leftist libtard but I feel this is a bit lenient.

I agree with bigH although i'd prefer immediate execution for scum like him.....what is the point of allowing people like him to live;he contributes nothing to society and should be put down.

This kind of thing should not be allowed. 'Reconvened via video link' .Why not reconvene the trial with the guy trussed up in the dock, bound and gagged etc
