Ignorant feckers on the inside lane who refuse to merge should be shot.
Report donny osmond February 19, 2018 4:09 PM GMT
fircing folk to stop on the slip road is only likely to increase chance of an accident

merging is the way forward

Agee with Saddo, dim-witted selfish drivers on the inside lane that don't move out at a slipway are the true ****s of the motorway.Devil

Them ones that come down way too fast and they're coming from behind but try to cut in front of you are stnuc. You can't always cross to the next lane to get outa the way.

Them ones that come down too slow and expect to join in front of you as you catch them up are also stnuc. You can't always cross to the next lane to get outa the way.

The trick is when you're joining a motorway to match the speed of the traffic you are joining and then merge in.

That's a cracking catch top of the net, delta Laugh

If you can't stand the heat stay out of the kitchen.

A little vehicular courtesy solves the problem, followed by a smile and a deft wave of a string backed driving gloved hand.
Report lfc1971 February 20, 2018 10:42 AM GMT
its a very dangerous situation, a mile prior to all sliproads on motorways cars should be required to go to the outside lane by law, signs would be there on the mile point, leaving the inside lane free for cars to join without having to worry
Report lfc1971 February 20, 2018 10:46 AM GMT
they would have a mile to get to the outside lane or face a fine
Report Get me a drink February 20, 2018 11:03 AM GMT
You would then get a situation similar to when a lane is coned off due to roadworks, people queue jumping by driving down the inside lane as far as possible and expecting to cut in at the front of the queuing traffic on the outside lane, thereby making the queue worse.
Report Get me a drink February 20, 2018 11:05 AM GMT
It's ok in light traffic, but in medium to heavy traffic it's a nightmare created by queue jumpers and last minute move over merchants.
Report lfc1971 February 20, 2018 11:21 AM GMT
actually on reflection its a bad idea, idiots are liable to do any reckless thing just to avoid a fine
Report lfc1971 February 20, 2018 11:27 AM GMT
traffic lights may be the only answer
Report trilby22 February 20, 2018 1:30 PM GMT
Common courtesy and common sense is all that is required.
Report Dr Crippen February 20, 2018 1:39 PM GMT
Don't the usual rules apply here? Where the one with the biggest vehicle has right of way.
Report Jack Hacksaw February 20, 2018 2:37 PM GMT
The biggest problem on the motorways is people changing lane and changing speed.

This is why, they do the 50 mph constant speed thing in congested areas.

Judging by some of the suggestions on here, the posters don't drive on busy motorways.
Report lfc1971 February 20, 2018 2:38 PM GMT
no 50cc scotters allowed on the motorway Dr C
Report lfc1971 February 20, 2018 2:42 PM GMT
We had better be careful, they are going to use this as an excuse to bring in driverless cars
Report Lady Faye Verrit February 21, 2018 2:09 PM GMT
It's all about courtesy and safety....including your own safety!

Even though we all know, that every other driver is useless, just don't let it get to you.

If there is room to move over safely, then do it, particularly when you can see that the other driver is going too slowly
to match your own speed.
Report trilby22 February 21, 2018 3:29 PM GMT
Correct Lay D.  I'll regularly take my foot off the gas to let them in if I'm not interferring with anyone behind me - or I'll accelerate slightly to let them in the gap behind me if I can't move over.

When merging, simply match your speed to that of the traffic and slip in.  Hence the origin ( I would imagine) of on-slip & off-slip.
Report cooperman February 21, 2018 3:48 PM GMT
Internet awash with videos of bad driving, road rage etc. Safety in modern cars gives these idiots the belief that they will walk away unharmed from any collision due to their stupidity.
