Well not boo hoo type but my eyes did fill with tears.

It was the new chant from Liverpool about Mo Salah.  It is saying they don't care if he is muslim .  I really like him too, I backed him very early on to be top goalscorer but more than that I love watching him play.

Have to agree with both of these. It is why positive discrimination doesn't work.
Just letting everyone get on and become a community or even a nation happens on its own within a couple of generations and there's less grief than everyone always "vivre la differencing" it all over the place.

salah - Oh Mane Mane- Bobby Firminio- but we sold Couthinio
Report Ibrahima Sonko February 17, 2018 9:54 PM GMT
They did not make an issue of it before of after, people read too much into every spoken word.

You should just accept that the backward chant is actually a positive. But some will differ, usually the same group who want everything and give nothing.
Report annie. February 17, 2018 10:16 PM GMT
I agree, Ibrahima, that the chant is a positive, that is why I was emotional about it.  For hardened football supporters to chant this is a hopeful sign that as STUDYFORM said we maybe are just getting on with it.

I, like most on here, do not agree with all the immigration that has changed our country.  But it is now a fact of life, unfortunately.
Report STUDYFORM February 17, 2018 10:37 PM GMT
Football chants being tribal, as they tend to be, annie, would more likely mean opposing fans chanting something to oppose this chant.
In all probability this would undo any good that's been done (and would give 'Radio 5 live' fuel for weeks).
Report annie. February 17, 2018 10:41 PM GMT
Probably in the old days this would happen, STUDYFORM, but nowadays fans are well aware that they can get banned for life for any racial chants.
Report donny osmond February 17, 2018 10:55 PM GMT
not just opposing fans, some of the nastiest chants are reserved for returning
ex heroes by the same fans that loved them.

not long since mido was getting abuse (10 years?)

one ref booked him v newcastle for raising a finger to his lip to hush fans after scoring ,
he was told it was for security reasons....

maybe fans have grown up a bit, maybe they fear getting charged, banned, jailed?
