Hogmanay (New Year) is the big celebration up there -- they get 2 bank holidays for it, 1st and 2nd January.

New Year's Day has only been an English and Welsh bank holiday since 1974.

I think was rather than is Ramruna.
Dying a death in Scotland outside the main cities but even then it's not as celebrated as it once was.
