ok,i am after giving it a go and the bad news is that you are all going to have to put up with me for 13 more years.
but its not bad for an old guy like me who lived life in fast lane.
i am happy to cash out for 13 more years.
but have you tried the live expectancy calculator?you have to be honest with the questions and you will find out how long you are going to be on this earth.
answers straight away.but really its a bit of fun.enjoy.i might try another site in 12 years time and see if i can scrape another year or two out of them .Laugh

I doubt the forum will still be around in 13 years time so it's not all bad news.

The Aviva one will try and get the years as high as possible to give us more incentive to save with them.
I added three stone to my weight and got the same number of years.

I then declared that I smoke and they knocked 2 years off.

The best indicator of life expectancy is how old your Parents and Grandparents lived for.

Not sure about that TB!

People are generally living longer, due to better health care, better diet (potentially) Advances in Screening and Diagnostics,
and availability of drugs, to deal with such as hypertension, and to control high cholesterol etc.

Add to that advances in surgery, for such as heart problems, and coupled with organ transplants, vaccines for such as influenza and pneumonia, blood transfusions etc.

Furthermore, for most, availability of 'feel good' leisure facilities, and (whatever we may think) an easier life in the workplace!

I think another item to be considered is the loss of manufacturing which killed so many through industrial disease.
As already said heart surgery has come on a lot. People are smoking less and asbestos has been dealt with. Homes aren't as cold as they used to be.
The rise in diabetes is the latest worry, that's going to shorten many lives.

We might be better at keeping people alive than we used to be. Yet the quality of life with most people pretty ill is questionable.

Your date of death, barring accidents, is in your DNA.  Of course work, better health care, living conditions etc  extend life but these can be factored in.  We all age at a different rate and have our own expiry date.

I expected to peg it around the age of 82 but I've recently knocked a few years off.

Used to work in Pensions and the actuaries did a lot of studies nationwide on how best to predict pension liabilities. Their life expectancy was based on pretty much post codes to get an average life expectancy. No surprises I suppose that the highest life expectancy was being based in Devon with the lowest being Glasgow city centre area. Believe it was around 13 years different in life expectancy.
