The allowable advertising time was increased to 20 minutes an hour from a maximum 15 a couple of years ago. I don't know if that includes promotions and ads for their own programmes or if they're additional.
They're synchronised too. If you're like me you can spend ages changing channels and watching little bits of loads of programmes just to avoid the ads.

Advertising runs and ruins SO much of our existence.

I dont ever watch anything as live, just record it fast forward the adverts when watching your recording.

Sport is the only thing you have to watch live.

I'm on Virmin, and every time I change channels, I have to sit through adverts.
Nowadays I record my programs and f/fwd the ads. The only way to do it!

I do the same as Ibrahima and just record everything I want to watch. If I do end up watching something live, I still pause it and go and do something else for 15 minutes so that I can still fast-forward through the ads.

Although it's annoying how many ads we seem to have here it's still not as bad as some other countries - I don't know what their rules are regarding ads but have been to both Australia and America recently - both seemed to have more ads than program!

I do that fast forwarding thing as well. If I can't FF then I mute them. On the rare occasions when I have sound they're SO FCKIN LOUD AND ANNOYING!!!!

I think they'll eventually figure out a way that you can't dodge the ads though.

It's bad enough having the channel logo in the top left hand corner, but I was watching Jurrasic World on ITV2 a few nights ago, and in the top right corner throughout the film they advertised an upcoming TV show in text form. It took up a significant area of the screen - enough to be really distracting and annoying. Angry

I do the same as Gin. Pause the programme, make a cup of tea and sandwich, go for a leak and build up enough backlog to skip through the ads. I you run out of backlog, pause and repeat.

Only have to watch sport live if you're betting on it!

At least with football there's 45 minutes without ads.

The thing with normally recording then FFing the adverts is that sometimes I'm watching summat live and when the ads come on I find myself mashing the FF button and wondering why nothings happening Crazy
