I was looking out of my balcony window this morning to see what the weather was like, when I saw a man climbing over the iron railings that separate our block of flats from the private park.  The railings are only waist high but he went very carefully with the aid of two very large plastic containers, putting one the other side and then stepping on both to get to our block of flats.  He looked like he could possibly be a workman but it was very odd.  Then after about five minutes he came back again with the containers and did the same thing to get into the park.

He went into the car park which is underneath our block and where the lift to the flats are.  I thought perhaps he was stealing petrol but apparently all modern cars have locking petrol caps.

What could he have been doing?

I have started to get worried about this Sad

I know the police don't want to know about stuff like this - they don't even respond to shoplifting or low value burglary. But, being the good citizen I am Silly, I would feel awful if something happened and I hadn't reported it.  Why would someone do something like that?  After all it was snowing at the time and he only had a jumper on.  If he really was a workman why didn't he have the key to the park gates or come to the front of the block and ring a flat?

Maybe it was about stealing petrol and he did not realise about modern locking caps.

Forget the petrol. If big enough to be used as steps then filled they would be too heavy to carry.
Could he have been replacing protective covers (metres etc) Have a look in the car park see if anything similar on the walls.

But if he had a legitimate reason to be in the car park, why didn't he come in the front door like all the other workmen, akabula?  I have never seen a workman in the garage.  And he was only there about five minutes at most.  Why carry the containers if he wasn't going to use them? Very mysterious.

Do you have a concierge, annie?  Howabout CCTV?  I would most certainly make a report somewhere in case this fellow is up to no good.  Is there a residents association?

Have your camera ready if you see him at it again.

I haven't got a tv, Capt F Happy

Good point trilby, I hadn't thought of CCTV.  I will report it now as hopefully it will be on there as I would have thought there would be one in the underground parking. I don't have a camera or a smartphone.

I will, if I remember, go down to the garage and check if they have CCTV, they should have as we have it in the lobby.  I will also check that gate he so carefully climbed over, it might not be locked!

Ok, thanks, maybe perhaps he didn't know about modern cars.  The plastic containers did look a bit and was the right size for petrol cans.

I spoke to  a neighbour of mine who uses the garage and he said he would look out for anything suspicious, Diva.  I will be going further with it but I want to see if there is CCTV in the garage first.

What a performance Cry

Long story short.  Phoned blocks management about cctv told me to phone police.  Phoned police told me to phone management.  Phoned management said they would pass it along Sad

No one seems interested in looking at the cctv.  Perhaps they should add to the signs saying don't worry about them no one will look at them Sad

By:

When: 10 Feb 18 18:28
No, Diva, and I haven't heard from the flats management either Sad

There are so many cctv notices in the large underground garage filled with expensive cars - but I can't see any cameras.  Unless they don't look like the normal ones like in the lobby at the front of the block.  I can see a square type thing dotted about but it looks more like a terminal of some sort, maybe other chit chatters might know what it is.

I will give them some time and then ring them again, now I am curious to see if there are actually cameras there.
