Once upon a time there were two bakery shops in a village. Both shops wanted new customers so the advertising campaign began.
Jim who owned the first bakery put a sign in his window of his shop that he would give any new customer a free loaf of bread.
Jack who owned the second bakery did not put any signs up but decided to give each of his regular customers a free loaf.
soon the new customers came to Jim's shop for a free loaf.
jacks customers were also happy because jack looked after his regular customers.
but then Jim's regular customers started to complain that they had been neglected and moved to jacks shop because jack looked after the regulars.
at the end of the advertising campaign jack had most customers because he got all Jim's regular customers and had a name of looking after his regular customers.
Jim got some new customers but lost all his regular customers that he had for years.
so what have you learned from the power of advertising?
