They do seem to be cowering all the time, no one to blame but herself for our weak position.

She shouldn't have called that second elect, it seems to me that she's lacking confidence in her own party and the hounds can smell blood. They sense a kill and I hope their wrong but she needs get a grip.

'Call me Dave' was the gambler who initiated the Brexit Referendum then made a swift exit himself when it all went pear shaped. May made a similar misjudgement when gambling on a second election which further weakened the Government at the precise time when it needed strength. That the Conservative and Unionist Party had to bribe the DUP for support to carry on speaks volumes; as does the fact that after all that, they still cannot find a suitable replacement for her.

Id say the word 'chancer' is more appropriate for Dave. The type of 'gambles' his ilk do are no loss ones where they come from a life of privilege and return to one when they 'lose'. Suffering is for all the other people.
What Dave did was attempt to calm the hemorrhaging of the conservatives by calling their bluff with the use of what looked like a marked deck (how could he lose that vote in the referendum was the general perception at the time) but still managed to lose, and the tories whether in or out of Europe will be fighting over it in another 30 years, because thats what they do. They are a bloated party that encompass varying degrees of swiveled eyed loonacy, from the extreme to the relatively moderate. The thing is this quandry we find ourselves in is the 'new normal'and is the result of the fact we now live in a Post Politics Age but with the politicians not realising this and just like the final throws of empire they cant even see their own collapse. What has happened is that from the dawn of the modern era the people have been pitted against one another while being given a veneer of respectability in the guise of continually telling them that this 'chosen' way of civilisation is the only one that works. All the while the political remit has been to vicariously support selfishness and greed which has manifested itself in cronyism and inequality. The problem is now that because of being in the Information Age, information is readily available, people can access statistics and papers on subjects that were limited to the few. People can instigate action that gains support through many mediums that were before just the luxury of the press barons. Whatever the options given to the people now, no matter how bad the effect of the option that seems less desirable for the country, it has just as much chance of coming to fruitition, because those on the end of inequality that only ever increases in number as the fewer take greater proceeds from the finite pot, end up saying 'my future is 5hit whichever way we go, so I will drag you with me'. The civil war wrestled power from one tyrany and gave it another. Politics has failed. |

Well ericster its actually an interesting debate.
The Stoics said that its the destiny of the human to live as nature. That has come to mean that we have the commonality of the ugliness of nature 'survival' aspect. But thats wrong. Epictetus wasnt saying to be more like nature, he was saying to live as we were intended, as the 'nature of the human', one of a rational and social animal. The reason the former has been misconstrued is because those who gain power use it to their own ends. In this case they have appealed to the inherent worst aspect of the human, the 'me first' concept. We are told that competition is key to advance. That isnt true. Competition results in growth its true, but its doing so by protecting of a good thing, whether thats information or a copyright, a product or a monopoly etc. All economics derive from energy. Energy that can niether be created nor destroyed, only converted. When people claim resources as their own they are effectively stealing and stripping the wealth. Heres a notion; why not we all work together instead of being protective of the vested interests, surely the collective application of sharing information to solve problems will produce better results that turning against each other? We know the answer, those who have stolen most wont allow it. |

If only dustybin, if only.
But, I would contest, people ARE, by nature, greedy selfish b'stards. I me me mine, pull the ladder up. And I believe in the saying " nature not nurture". We are what we are. |
