agreed, they should stop trying to re-make these classics, it never works.
Porridge is another example. |

it seems more like open all hours does last of the summer wine
plenty of work for ex comedians. |

I've never watched it, I didn't like the first series either. Mad dog, Mrs. Brown just completely dumbfounds me that people find it amusing, it is comedy for those 'not firing on all cylinders' as far as I'm concerned. For a comedy series that I find absolutely superlative is 'Peep Show', I just love that programme.

What has happened to the scriptwriters?
Do they just retrieve and rehash a previously binned script to fund their pensions? John Sullivan - Grren Gren Grass, Roy Clarke - Still open all hours, Ben Elton - Upstart Crow , all utter carp (anag) And where are the new breed? I agree with Slippy that Peep Show is the only decent sitcom in the last 10 years |

BBC used to have the best sitcoms. Until about 15 years ago.
The list was massive: Steptoe, Porridge, OFAH, Dibley (I liked it anyway), Dads army, men behaving badly (nicked from ITV and improved), red dwarf, Fawlty towers and many many others. Then the BBC got all PC as it is now and everything has to be "inclusive", had to have "non-offensive" scripts and appears to be commissioned by some ex-students who have no sense of humour. On the other hand, C4 has taken their place. The latest one, Derry Girls, is very good. As was Father Ted, The IT Crowd, The Inbetweeners, Peep show. So all is not quite lost. |

Speaking with authority lol I thought last nights episode was absolutely hilarious and brilliantly played by all the actors

STUDTFORM, you left out one of the very best BBC series in the rather brilliant 'The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin' which was must watch t.v. in our house growing up as a kid.

Slippy,I was in the same class at school as the man who played the character who kept saying "super". Quite pally in fact for a while. Bruce Bould is his name, never went on to do anything special.

Well, that's interesting kenny mann. He only had a bit part but was part of the characters. I was the first person you ever talked to on here by the way, I'm not sure if I have mentioned that before.
