Nice place. Cost of living is about the same as UK as long as you keep out of Stockholm. Property is cheap. Very laid back and not materialistic. The one thing you always notice is how clean the air is and how little traffic there is even on the motorways. When Swedes come here they are horrified at the traffic in UK. Great place for a chill-out holiday and quick and cheap to get there.

I went to Stockholm in the Summer with a group of mates and for all of us it was our first time in Sweden and we all absolutely loved the place, the people, the scenery and basically everything about the city was absolutely brilliant and I'm looking forward to going back sometime this year. I didn't find the place to be any more expensive than living in London, in fact a bit cheaper if anything. Highly recommended in my book as a place to visit most definitely.

As slippy says, no more expensive than here. Everyone speaks English, most are friendly and polite.

I've been going to Sweden for about 7 years and never seen any problems but don't spend any time in Stockholm. Certainly a few more immigrant beggars on the streets but nowhere near UK cities.

Are a lot of the problems not in certain suburbs (that are now to an extent no-go) and in Malmo though?

As long as you can keep the bad news down as much as possible by ignoring it, using censorship or mis direction, the better.

Shoveling the problems into small criminal areas where no body cares about you is another way and creating ghettos where they can just fight amongst themselves is another.  No one goes there, so no one reports, coz no one cares - great stuff.
One problem will be the burgeoning migrant population growing in influence and numbers.
