Excellent advice. I obviously don't even know you but felt the pain in your words. I hope sharing it here gives some comfort. We're all mortal. Best wishes and take some strength from your resolve.

Awful to read your terrible news about your brother and what you have said is so true and I try and do what you say and don't put off seeing my family and friends even if it means going out of my way as they are spread out all over the place. Like Annie, I have brothers, four of them in fact and if anything happened to them I'd be completely heartbroken.

Sorry for your loss - It's all too easy to get caught up in daily life and forget the things and people that are important to you. Just today, my brother asked me if I wanted to meet up for something to eat in a couple of weeks time and I wasn't sure whether to go or not as I had some work on (on here). Now I will forget about that and go anyway.

My condolences to you and your family. An Embolism can strike so rapidly. It reminds me back in 1997 when i was working in a betting shop in High St North East Ham.It was near to closing time when this gang of thugs entered the shop and clambered over the counter. My cashier,Sandra, just 41 suffered an embolism of the brain due to the stress of the situation and died three days later.

Gin, that's a good decision. I'm in Bedford right now staying with my brother for a couple of days, he got some time off and we have been out and about in town having a couple of pints, walking his dogs and watching the racing. It has been a lot of fun as we are really two peas in a pod and have the same sense of humour, both slightly bonkers of course and it has been great to spend time with him.

I've spent a good deal of today arguing with my brother - there are only the 2 of us and your moving thread has made me think hard. we are both mid-50s. Sorry to read of your loss and I hope time can ease the hurt for your family and friends. |

Sincere codolences TINnotaTON. I've hardly seen my Brother for 25 years but he moved back here last year and has been living with me for a few months. I was quite relieved when he moved into his new property last week, and feel a little guilty now. I will try harder.

Sorry to hear of your loss TIN - my mum passed away just before Christmas and the funeral is this Friday. She was a good age (97) and although it was on the cards for some time it came at a bad time, although no time is a good time for this sort of thing, especially close family members.

My sincere condolences Tin, had an awful year last year myself losing two great sister in laws both in their fifties, in trying to console the wife, we agreed to do little at Xmas but celebrate the dawning of a New Year instead, returning from cooking and delivering meals on wheels on New Years Eve, my wife had the unenviable job of telling me that my baby sister (51) had passed away earlier that morning, to complete a truly miserable year.
It is imperative that you keep thinking positively though and don't be afraid to show any emotion you feel, my big gripe is the time it takes to bury someone over there, nearly 3 weeks and we have no date for a funeral, here all would have been completed in 4 days maximum. We are clinging to the fact my sister passed in the old year as a sign that this year will indeed be better. |

Cheers again all, yes she was a good age monkey, i guess it made it a little easier knowing she'd had a long and hopefully decent life and cork langer, i expected stories after me posting this yesterday about similar experiences, but yours is truly horrific.
How do you even try to explain it, never mind take it all in !! |

My Prayers go out to you TIN, it is something I will never know. But I lost a younger Brother in December 2016, we couldn't bury him until January 2017. It was with us all over the Christmas, I have 4 more younger Brothers. One had a Heart attack on December 3rd 2017, I thought here we go again. The one that died and the one that had the Heart Attack had a Muscle Wasting disease, that is Hereditary but we can not find any family member that has had it. The brother that died was 51, and the one that had the Heart Attack has just turned 50. We are just waiting for the day, he won't live past his mid 50's.I see him every week, piss taking phucker who can rip you to bits. The Brain as sharp as it ever was, but his body is giving up on him. When he wants a phag, you have to light it and put it in his mouth. He can't lift a Cigarette. Heart breaking at times, at home with my 74 year old Mum. Typical old Irish Biddy, she still won't take any **** from him. As you said TIN make the most of your Family and Friends you never know when it will be the last time you see them. You read about Family Feuds, really life is too short. Again Deepest Sympathies TIN.
