Erdogan was a classic case of fooling the electorate into voting for him and allowing a dictator to rule them.
Amazing how many times this has happened around the world. |
By:
Don't you like your NATO ally Erdogan??

I don't believe the coup was real. It was very convenient, like the Reichstag fire or the "Polish" attack on the German radio station.

I think that the Kurds are one of the largest groups in the Middle East yet they have no country of their own. Over the years country borders were drawn up to suit colonial powers with no regard for the Kurds who have been split between a number of countries.
I would hope Trump tries to give some help to them for they have fought hard and suffered badly fighting against ISIS to the benefit of the West. |

Amazing that the EU would even consider taking em in moisok. Whether it would be bad for Europe or not in the long run-80m extra Muslims very bad imo- didn't matter at all when Merkel offered to hurry up their entry, in return for a short term fix for a problem of her own making.

Moisok wouldn't be happy, it would play havoc with his plans for greater fluidity. He might even have to sell half his wardrobe.

In the earlier days of ISIS there were claims of them selling oil as part of their fundraising It was thought a lot of that was through Turkey so the government there must have had some knowledge of that and took no action.
However, I think that the Turkish government started to see a threat from ISIS as their overall aim is to create a large state run on religious grounds ruled by clerics and not politicians. Such a state would swallow up Turkey so then goodbye Erdogan and other politicians. |

Zero risk that Turkey will join the EU in the forseeable future, so no need to worry. I know Boris Johnson said that the UK will supoort Turkey's bid to join the EU, but we don't care about the UK's opinion on that matter, and all countries have the power to veto new members.
The question is are you happy to have Turkey as a member of NATO? |
By:
no one cares if they are part of NATO as long as they are not part of Europe , what's so difficult to understand about that ?
By:
You are expected to come to Erdogan's aid if Turkey is attacked. Not a promise you intend to keep?
By:
That is for NATO to decide , that's fine
By:
you see I like war , and I like peace
By:
How can I explain this seeming contridiction ?
Keep Turkey out of Europe in peacetime And in war, keep them on our side |
By:
Now as long as they are part of NATO hopefully they wont attack us
By:
We need to stop being dependent on Turkey for air force bases in the region, take their ace away.
By:
If it us good for NATO , leave the British and American airforce in Turkey
By:
That's what we do in Britain
By:
That will not change until Turkey tells us to leave , that's fine
By:
You see we are not dependent on Turkey , they are dependant on us
By:
If the Turkish people are stupid enough to vote for someone like Erdagon there is not much we can do about that
By:
It must be what they want. That is fine, I hope the EU take them in one day.
By:
You are right foinavon - and also I would be careful where I parked - it can be a long way down!!!
By:
You're a gender hero, Moisok, I salute you.
By:
That's all very well, but you try standing around in 4 inch heels all evening.

The Turkish people continue to vote for Erdogan because he has kept all his promises to them, he has built schools, colleges, roads and of course mosques. He is seen as bringing prosperity to the majority of Turks the like of which they have never seen before.
By:
really, how has he done that ?
By:
Roads and schools and colleges, well I think in Britain we have managed that without Erdogan , well I am not impressed by that , I give him no credit for that
By:
And building mosques , well i must say that doesn't impress me much either
If it does the Turkish voters that's fine , I disagree |
By:
Where has the OP gone? What's the point on this forum anymore.
By:
Erdogan is a fine man in charge of a fine country, I'm sure of that.
