Makes general sense but how many acid chuckers have been teenagers?  That one who injured 22 in a club was 25.  Like I say, they should obviously be an age-restricted item but it won't make an ounce of difference.

Agreed, won't make an ounce of difference.

But now the politicians have an answer to give, when they're questioned about what they're doing about people throwing acid.

Anyone found throwing Acid in someones faces , the victim should be allowed to do the same to them, simple

Will make an ounce of difference as it prevents under 18's from buying acid.

What is your alternative suggestion?

None. If people are pissing and moaning about someone doing something and not doing enough I would expect them to suggest some thing rather than just pissing and moaning.

So you're one of these with nothing to say, but always ready to have a go at those who do have something to say.

That's what I thought, and why I threw the question back at you.

One way would be to stop the supply of these chemicals to the general public altogether.
Only to be supplied for professional use.
That would cut the figures, but it won't happen yet.

The irony. Have you read the first two posts on this thread?  2 people with nothing to say having a go at retailers for doing something saying it won't make a difference but with nothing to say about what the retailers should be doing. Then when questioned they still have nothing to say try and turn it on the other person.  Still it means you get to work yourself in to a froth about something.

Good point.  Age restrictions are impenetrable.  I've never seen anyone under the age of 18 with cigarettes or alcohol so it must work. Plain

There's a difference between solving a problem and making progress. You are criticising retailers for doing something off their own back rather than saying it's a good thing with no suggestion of what you would like retailers to have done.

You must be thick if you don't think restricting alcohol sales to over 18's doesn't make an ounce of difference to under 18's being able to drink alcohol.

Have some posts been removed? I cannot see any that that would apply to.

Just seen on the News they have arrested a 17yr old for 6 acid attacks.

Was reading that a few moments ago RLKP.
He actually has plead guilty to the attacks which all took place on the one night.
Was in relation to the theft of mopeds.
Hopefully he gets a prison sentence similar to the last guy convicted.

Here is that 17 year old young man, pleading guilty to these heinous crimes. Another fantastic advert for "Diversity Is Our Strength" London.

The judge quoted John, saying: "I really didn't appreciate the damage that would be done.

Squirt acid onto the face and surprised it could cause so much damage. Hope that's kicked back at him. Worthless cretin.

Not sure at those moaning that it won't make any difference.

Much more to be done though.

The fightback has to start with the maximum possible sentence for crimes like this, to be served in full.

There can be no possible 'defence' for this truly appalling criminal.  This is exactly the type of person the general public needs to be protected against.

In my opinion anyone who throws acid into the face of another should never be released to get the chance to do it again.
If they behave like an animals then let them be treated like an animals.

Life in jail until they die should be the mandatory sentence if only to protect the public.

Indeed Doc. There was no provocation for this appalling crime, and as such no possible defence.

We can only hope that a British judge finally has a fleeting moment of grace, and imposes the maximum possible sentence. And if by some miracle this wish is granted, let us pray that a further miracle occurs and Shameless Chakrabarti and her ilk applaud the judge and demand much longer sentences for all levels of 'Acid Attack' crimes.

Extremely severe sentences are the only thing that will make these psychopaths from thinking twice about committing such a heinous crime.
I would suggest a minimum sentence of 25 years with no chance of parole would be a suitable starting point. However in the case of Arthur Collins earlier this year when he threw acid over several people in a packed nightclub then he should have got life and spend the rest of his life behind bars.

Don't know about teenagers but 25% under 18.
