Yes Capt. I think only Arsenal and Everton were in there continously longer than Cov.
By:
He came back to play for the opposition some time when I was there. Cov were all over them but couldn't get past sealey
amazing performance but I cannot remember which team he was playing for. probably our nemesis ASTON VILLA!!!! but may be luton coz we were supposedly favs and I thought it was a cup game against lesser opposition and he did have a few games for Luton my poor old brain!!! |
By:
I've asked on the Cov forum. Hopefully someone will know.

ok big mo thank you

From the forum. Was it Watford?

The other two replies I got were.
We lost against Luton 0-1 in January 1987. Could it have been that game? Left City in acrimonious fashion - some Cov fans believed he had deliberately let in a goal as he was leaving. Luton beat us and he did handstands in front of the West End. At Old Trafford in the opening game of the 1990-1 season he spent the entire second half kissing his Man Utd badge in front of the City fans (to be fair we didn’t give him anything else to do). Came back to us on loan under Don Howe as Oggy was injured. Didn’t go down well with some of our fans but he did a decent job for a month or so. |

By:
great win, but where will it get us without a stadium
By:
First game I attended on my own was Arsenal v Coventry. 2001 I think. John Eustace was playing.
By:
I totally agree mesi. I don't know of any Cov fan that doesn't hate our owners. Every single post everywhere about Coventry City always ends up with it all being about SISU. Just wanted to say well done to the lads yesterday and just mention the football.

yes nice to try and forget now and then.we should try and get all on betfair to club together and help out

An epic day yesterday bigmo - lovely to be in the Ricoh when it's a bit fuller than usual and such a great atmosphere.
The boys (and many of them are young players) did really really well and gave everything they could. For non-Cov fans remember the name Tom Bayliss. Scored on his debut this season and he has a very bright future. For Cov fans, get up there as often as you can and enjoy watching him as the club will surely cash him in soon. |
By:
thats it big mo I was there - sealey was brilliant
my mate said 'cov shirts weren't even wet' meaning they really didn't try the old 'we just need to turn up' they got a bit of a shock ho ho all the best |
By:
sorry I meant the luton game
I know I am crazy coz - I thought it was against burnley sealey never played for them !!!!!! |
By:
I agree Frank Tom Bayliss looks to be a fantastic prospect. Can't see us hanging on to him. Just want a massive payday in the next round and get on with trying to win promotion.
By:
Coventry 2 Stoke 1 does not register as a major shock to me ,I still think of them as mid table Divsion 1 teams of times gone .
No doubt having being sacked Mr Hughes will be in the front line for the next mid table Premier league vacancy , nice work if you can get it. |
By:
The ground must look empty for a league game with a stadium like the Ricoh and the lack of supporters.
By:
I met a mate from Cheltenham who came down when we played them and he said it must be soul destroying and if it was him he didn't think he'd turn up each week.
By:
cup draw being made live from Ricoh tonight at 7
By:
To get days like Saturday though you have to put up with the bad days too. Though to be honest I had forgotten how good the acoustics are in the Ricoh. Hopefully we have reached rock bottom and are on the way up now. I see in today's paper though that Spurs are interested in Bayliss :( Maybe they will let us keep him on loan for a bit if he does go.
I can't ever imagine not going - my dad used to take me and a stool to stand on and I'm 55 now, going with my own grown up son. If City have 7,000 hardcore fans, the other 6,999 are my friends (though to be fair the bloke that sits behind me is a bit of a tit!). |

my uncle has had a season ticket every year since 1945,the telegraph wanted to do an artical on him but he didnt fancy it.Thats dedication for you

Good on him. They should start letting him in for free soon you would think.

By:
Good chance we'll take 10,000 and possibly winnable.
By:
Yes, a winnable tie. Hopefully we can play someone bigger in the following round.
I'm feeling more optimistic than I have for quite a long time. If only we could get the ground situation sorted I would be even happier. |
