The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) confirmed it was investigating reports that the plane had been rebuilt after it was “destroyed” in a fatal incident in the 1990s.

And yet it flew in a goodly fashion for many years after until recently. 1.01 it's just a quirky factoid and has no bearing on the recent mishap.

A good friend of mine flew in that same ill fated plane just 3 days earlier (different pilot)...She was very shaken by the news for more than one reason!
