I must admit I watched both episodes and enjoyed them.
As they say ''each to his own.'' |

I'm no fan of the BBC.

The book was a best seller.

Didn't watch it but I read the book a while back - quite interesting but disappointing "ending".
By:
I decided not to watch it. What did I miss ?
By:
agree with the OP it was typical of modern writing - an interesting plot was developed but the writer didn't know how to finish it so it all just fizzled out

so it all just fizzled out
Just like the BBC in general. Just the odd bright spot here and there now as they pander to a minority audience. Forcing us to pay the licence fee as they abandon the British culture is an insult to this country. The sooner the BBC is privatised the better, then let's see how they get on. |

BBC easily the best broadcaster in the world. No one else comes close. It's bizarre the vitriol they receive. So many great programmes both tv and radio. I guess in the dumbed down world we live in not enough people appreciate quality. Amazing value for money,

So many great programmes? A programme is only as good as the numbers who watch it.
I guess in the dumbed down world we live in not enough people appreciate quality. There you have the attitude of the BBC in a nutshell. People have to watch what the BBC decide they should watch. So they tune in to other channels that do provide them with the programmes they expect for their money. To most licence fee payers the BBC is a complete waste of cash. |

the BBC is a very strong force for evil, it is attempting to destroy Britain and western values and freedoms
By:
Dr Chippen, that's ridiculous. you've missed the whole point of the BBC. It's about providing a quality service not just about numbers. However, you will still find that the BBC attract higher viewers than other channels. It's become trendy to bash the BBC driven by the loons of the far right ridiculously trying to claim the BBC is left wing in order to pretend they are mainstream. A few of them appear to be found on here.
By:
try as they might the flat-earther bigots won't capture the mainstream. the Beeb won't let them!

Is this the prog that had the snow going upwards?
By:
Once again an exchange of views is marred by posters resorting to insults.
This time asparagus followed by A_T. What is about some people that they can't discuss stuff in a civilised manner? |
By:
I only asked about the snow going upwards
By:
Ah my Wife has just told me, it was all about a visualization.
By:
questions like that are more beautiful than the answers , which in fact often fail to resolve them

I don't think the bbc is left wing I just think it is pro islam, pro eu and dislikes anything out of step with their strange middle of the road liberal attitude
what was it trotsky said about standing in the middle of the road??!! |
By:
and they certainly weren't keen on corbyn either
By:
I would say the bbc is a dilluted version of the guardian and is basically an establishment supporter if the news/current affairs/economic debates they have are anything to go by
By:
The campaign they've been waging against Trump tells the story.
The subject dominated Newsnight might after night following his election to the extent that I stopped watching the programme out of boredom. They're obsessed with Trump and reporting the fake news that surrounds him. Only the BBC doesn't report it as fake news. |
By:
Haven't read or watched it so have skipped through to avoid spoilers.
Re the OP though and his disgust for token gays, put upon women and blacks; can anyone confirm if these characters are in the book or if the lovely dovey beeb demanded they be added? |
By:
as with the guardian but its not just him it always was anti corbyn, farage, brexit 4 to 1 in favour of remain, the eu elections (anti ukip),
pro establishment in french elections pro eu merkel etc etc and so the propaganda goes on sky is little different as they float around on a sea of plastic |
By:
ps and their almost pathalogical ignorance of certain peaceful group's actions in sweden/germany and of course the uk
guradian and bbc/sky very similar |

Back to the story.
It's interesting the technique used to despatch the master of the house, after he was found guilty and sentenced to death for what was seen as gross unseemly conduct in those days. Death by drowning from tying a rope around his neck fixed to a mill wheel which was rolled into the harbour. It struck me likely that he could strike his bonce on the side of the jetty as the weight pulled him over the edge and into the drink. Would have come sharp that. |
