200 litres of seawater an hour getting in via a faulty seal on one of the propeller shafts. Contractor obliged to pay all costs. Gonna be a few words said there. P45 for Christmas?

By:
Actually, it's not such a big deal as it's an internal seal at the dry end of the shaft, so no need for dry docking.

not conflating the 2 but report out today saying the standard of new build houses is an absolute disgrace and of very poor unchecked quality, wouldnt have anything to do with 3 million eu migrants blagging themselves away as builders, joiners, plumbers etc with no paperwork ,working for peanuts

I had a Morris Minor in the seventies that would ship as much as that on a rainy day. Despite two cans of black bitumen paint.

titanic - 400 tons water per minute
aircraft carrier 200 litres ![]() |
|
By:
That's almost equivalent to a 3 litre bottle of cider a minute. Bit less that 400 tons ... unless it's heavy duty cider

A non story from the gutter press.
Carried out varies sea trials with very few problems. What do you expect, Scottish built. ![]() |
|
By:
I think there might be a clue in the word "trial" Aka
![]() During trials, boats are put through all possible extremes ... stress tests for instance. The Sun ![]() |

The fact its Scottish built you would think the seals would be very tight indeed.

200 litres an hour isn't that much, that's about the average between us when I'm drinking with William Hague on a friday night.
|
|
By:
In perspective, say a personal yacht weighs 5 tons, QE displaces 70,000, that's a ratio of 14,000.
So 200 litres an hour is equivalent to a sailing yacht leaking 200/14,000 = 0.014 litres an hour. So about 1/20th of a can coke, broadly, a can of coke a day. And that's the maximum figure. I'm surprised the widely respected naughtical and military journal of note "The Sun" and the leftie media are getting so worked up about it? |

Very good minardi.

Very good coverage of the situation from the Sun.
I'm sure that article will have had workers up and down the factories in Britain, sitting on the edge of their toilet seats scrutinising the drawings and data about the ship. Not to mention the chat it will generate in the pub later on about those ******* in charge of our defence. |
