Following the 'redefinition of marriage' fiasco the govt had to guard the royals and other titles.
Because 'wife' and 'husband' are now non gender specific (in law!!!!!) the terms king, Queen, Princess, Prince, Dame, Duke and Duchess were protected!!!! Thankfully Queen still means a woman... The danger was that if William divorced cos he was gay, married a man, he could in theory refer to himself and his 'husband' as Queen. Yikes!! Oh the tangled web of liberalism.. |
