Two very good Tesco Finest Whites - The Vinas del Rey Albarino and the Pecorino.
|
|
By:
The M&S 25pc off is better IMO as the wines are far superior.
And if you time it right you can get an extra £5 off voucher from a previous shop when you spend £35. |

Two very good Tesco Finest Whites - The Vinas del Rey Albarino and the Pecorino. Tried it. Cheesy as feck to my uneducated palette ![]() |

By:
Very sophisticated Gnarley
Actually use the Pecorino cheese instead of Parmesan in a Pasta dish and the wine goes beautifully. No reason why it should as the two are completely unrelated apart from the origin of the name. |

Anything under 3 quid or do I stick to my 2 litre white lightning

Dragon - same as all supermarkets, they range from the terrible to the excellent with some very good value in between. I tend to use independent reviews to narrow my choice, and then buy a taster bottle to see if it is to my taste. I am yet to totally rule out any supermarket.

Dragon - heard mixed reviews of Naked Wines, but I should give it a try. Great concept!!. Re Waitrose, the Rustenburg John X Merriman Cab Sav is very fine, and would suit your palate, but I guess you'll have been there already. We tend to drink mostly French, and mainly Rhones (both north and south) and Cru Beaujolais for Red, and Alsace for white (PG and Gewurz.) although we drink a lot of English White and fizz from the vineyard next door
. Any Aldi recommendations welcome as I need to go there to get my Whisky Smoked Salmon for Christmas. |

blackbarn, Naked was a great concept...then Majestic bought them...

Just in case you are ever down this way, this is the vineyard next door. Their wines are seriously good.

Cheers for the heads up, Deptford.
I bought a case of Tatty (pretty much same deal as Veuve £36 to £27) from the Tesco on the Homesdale Road, Bromley. I was quite amused as they only had one of the discounted bottles on the shelf but did the arbers on here proud, was lucky enough to have a shelf stacker that put me straight on to his manager; who I asked if they had another 5 in the storeroom, who then took a photo of the barcode, and said no problem, 'but please stay here' - in the wine corridor. 5 minutes later he returned with 5 further bottles (I was a rebel and picked up some eggs, bread and toilet rolls whilst waiting for his return). On my hunter/gatherer's arrival from the storeroom he asked if I was finished with my shop, I explained I still had a few bits and pieces to get. He said (no problem, I'll hold the Champagne and let me know when you're checking out, I'll be at the end of aisle four). Fcuck me I must look dodgy, five un-security tagged bottles of booze and he wanted to make sure I paid for them! Bless him! As an aside, I notice M&S were flogging bottles of Port, £16 down to £8 with a further 25% off for 6. No idea what it tastes like but the bottles looked quite cool. |
