No.i am only kidding,i just used the the title (the atlantic ocean) to title a thread that will be very interesting whenever i think of something interesting to post.
A sort of introduction to a really super thread .Sort of like the songwriter that sits down to write a song but his mind goes blank,So when ever i get inspired i will add to this thread but for the moment all i can think of that is interesting is THE ATLANTIC OCEAN itself. And it has a lot of water in it.And i guess at this very moment in time there is a lot of people out in the middle of it.Of course they will be in boats and ships if you know what i mean,"they are not in the water so to speak".

Mind you the Atlantic ocean has to start. It had to come from somewhere ,and i think it could only have started three ways.
1=god made it.
2=it come out of the center of the earth.
3=the water was delivered to the planet from comets.
so i guess the betting would be 4/5 god,5/4 center of the earth and 10/1 the comets.
you see if the comets delivered it they all would have to arrived at the same time other wise the sun would have dried the water up.so thats why the comets are 10/1.
so i make it a two horse race.now the center of the earth could be the one but its up against a favorite that has not been beaten in the last 2000 years.and god usually goes well at this time of year.
As IT GETS closer to christmas i expect the god price to shorten (season of good will and all that)and with the snow on the ground it could seem logical that the atlantic ocean once fell in the form of snow and melted into water over a million bad winters. And through a line of form of a million bad winters god is a worthy favorite because it says in the bible that god made the seasons.

After crossing it Oscar Wilde described the Atlantic as mostly boring and when
it isnt boring you dont want to be on it.

Whenever you describe anything as god made, you're basically holding your hands up to a lack of any other explanation.

Our predecessors used god to explain what they couldn't explain.

To give us faith when our blatent lack of knowledge left us feeling insecure.

Future generations will rely on science without denying their spirituality. It's almost certain.

So lets say god said "i think i will make an ocean(a salty ocean). So he got a a big big mass of oxygen and a big big mass of hydrogen and mixed them together .then he poured a big big pile of sodium into the mixture to make the compound stick together. He then let if float round outer space until it cemented in a big big frozen ball the size of the moon and then one day he crashed the big big cemented ball of frozen elements into the earth.
And when the sun started to melt this big big frozen ball of ice it turned into a big big salty ocean .
So already god price has hardened into 4/6 while the center of the earth has eased to 11/8,but a little bit of marsion money has come for the comets clipping its price down to 17/2.

brassneck, there's no Nigella Lawson in all of this. It does what the hell it likes, according to the scientific principles that govern it - the laws of "nature" - and our existence is effectively down to "luck". We live because life grew on a planet that is perfectly positioned from the sun.

but all i want to know is where the atlantic ocean come from.perhaps the earth was once a wet sponge type planet.and the sun
evaporated the water into steam that got trapped in the earths atmosphere and fell for 5000 years as rain.you would think the scientists of today could tell us where the oceans came from its not that difficult a question to answer, but nobody seems to know the answer.
if they got a bucket of ocean water found out the chemicals in it and it would help.like its 2017 and they still can not say where the water we see everyday came from.

I'm only dealing with your flippancy. It's a good question, but the lack of scientific explanation, in a world where we are only scratching the surface, is of no suprise.

If you accept that modern humans have only existed for 200 thousand years and the elements we are trying to explain are 4.5 billion years old.

We'd all agree that the earth is no longer flat.

Having flown across it ,I wouldn't fancy heading  off in a large wooden boat with a few big bed sheets attached trying to get to the other side .

A couple of interesting facts Brassie.

The Atlantic Ocean currents help create the Corryvreckan Whirlpool (3rd largest in the world)
Found between the islands of Jura and Scarba off the west coast of Scotland.

Another is the Clachan bridge also known as the Bridge over the Atlantic.
This bridge connects the island of Seil to the mainland and was built in the late 1700s.
Tis a single track humped back bridge built of stone.

Will post pics when passed by the mods.

Lovely wee vid of the Bridge and surrounding areas.
Haunting piece of music to accompany it as well.
Only 6 mins and well worth a look/listen.

A wise person once wrote...

Earth is pretty round. Everest 29,000 feet up. Marianas trench 36,000 feet down. Both a fraction of a percent of the 21 million feet radius of earth from core to surface. We have just enough ocean water that it settles between the two

Cant be a coincidence
