muggers beware... people walking around with a thousand pound iphone?

when i was growing up, you paid your phone quarterly. the idea of paying a thousand pounds to
pay a phone company would be ridiculous. are we all imaginary millionaires?

With Apple security....surely the iphone is useless if stolen ?

The fact that it's a phone is irrelevant, you can buy a functioning mobile phone for £30.
It's bling, in the same way that people will pay an extra x grand for a BMW or Audi badge on their new car. They will convince themselves that the quality difference is worth the extra money but we know that's not the REAL reason.

Is it because they have got little willies?

Not entirely true, it's like being able to walk around with a tiny computer and entertainment system that also you can use as a satnav, compass, games console and telephone.

Most of the purchasers will already have all that on the one they bought last year.

Yes, you can buy a phone that theoretically does all the things an iPhone does for a lot less. But I've never had one that does them reliably in practice.

I need reliable and instant access to the Betfair exchange wherever I am. The iPhone 5s I bought 3 years ago does has given me that, and still does, as reliably as ever. Nothing I had prior to that did the job, and they'd malfunction/wear out anyway after a year or 18 months.

It might have cost me one or two hundred more in the first place, but that iPhone has saved or made me thousands.

you can still play all the games and stuff with a lower end phone?
it's BS.
the way apple takes the credit for other company's tech is criminal.
they've been doing it from day one.
all they have is slick design and a good logo.

mp3 was before the iplayer. iplayer charged you for something which was free?
they went to xerox and sun systems and lifted their ideas in the early days
of computing.(triumph of the nerds - documentary)

they were bust and Bill Gates rescued them.

fashion victims with a nice logo on their new box.

I don't have a phone for "playing games" nor for "stuff".

I have one because if I'm at a cricket match, a racecourse or a betting shop, and I need to remove that monkey I had up on here laying the bowling team that's just taken a wicket or a favourite that's shortening, I need to know I can do it reliably and instantly.

With an iPhone I can. With everything cheaper I get Page Loading, Please Wait or a spinning wheel.

I'm exactly the same as you, SBTW, invaluable at the cricket. Blackberry battery life and lack of reliability used to drive me mad, although I loved the way I could bang out an email on the little keyboard quicker than anybody else on their touchscreens whilst punting at the cricket when otherwise I would have been needed at work.

But why do you need a phone in the first place
apart from the wife getting hold of you in the pub when she
can't turn the heating on.
