My hours are pretty erratic.
Lately I have been going to bed a little earlier but I have been ill with a really nasty cold so I was in bed most of yesterday and today until about 8.30am. I was still feeling rough when I got up but went to the pub for coffee and read the newspapers. Then I did some work around my flat I had been putting off. I should be feeling really tired but I think all that time I spent yesterday sleeping has stopped me feeling tired. I am usually pretty good at sleeping because most of the time I am reading late at night with only a 15 watt bulb on and then when I start feeling sleepy I go to bed because I can continue to read in bed and then naturally fall asleep. I think you can feel tired, but your brain is too active. Maybe because of too much light, too much alcohol, too much thinking. I read somewhere lately about it helps to have a 'quiet mind' when you are trying to sleep. I think that is right, whenever I have problems it is much harder to sleep well. |

You're never going to wake up again - ever! Keep those eyelids up, lungs gasping for air. Fight the encroaching darkness ... Or maybe you had a jolt of caffeine later than usual. And then you think - why not? And watch some great music videos. Engage with other chit-chat giants. And eventually realise it all passes and in the end nothing matters. Which is as it should be. Just been watching, again, amy winehouse live, recorded obviously.
What i like about her music, apart from her and her great voice and interpretation of lyrics, is the band and dancers with her. Two guys dancing really well and a band with tremendous rhythm and soul and a great saxophonist - what more can you want |

As a child I'd find excuses to stay up as long as possible. My problem was that if I fell asleep, the next thing I'd know I'd be waking up and the night would have gone in an instant. My memory of the evening would be as though it had happened a few minutes ago yet now it's 7am or whenever and I have to get ready for a day at school. By staying up late I was continuing the evening and keeping the morning at bay, although I knew I'd be even more tired than usual in the inevitable morning.

After a spell in hospital, four beds on the ward one bloke kept the three of us awake all night, never heard anything like it, bit my lip until he was on the phone to a relative in the morning telling them " I got 6.5 - 7 hours sleep not like home but i shouldn't complain"
Sadly I shouted out what I thought of him at that stage, anyway the point is when I got home after the two nights I found it incredibly hard to get to sleep,it felt like jet lag at the time, that was six weeks ago & its not got much better since ![]() |

I do this all the time.
Good intentions turn into staying up late, trying to get some valuable tips from first dates - get woken up by toxic fumes as I set the highly flammable arm chair on fire from the burning ciggie. It's a never ending cycle. |
