My mother got rushed into hospital 2 days in serious pain and after tests they say she has e coli.
Anyone know where she could have picked this up from? Anyone know much about it?
They're keeping her in for the time being

E. coli are a large group of bacteria. Most are harmless or beneficial to you and normally live in your colon (and in other animals). But there are some strains of E. coli which can cause illness. You can get them through contaminated food or through contact with cattle or swallowing lake water etc. You can reduce the risk of getting infected by properly cooking minced meat, not drinking raw milk, washing vegetables and washing your hands if you've been in contact with animals. Hope your mother gets well soon.

Mr.Anderson is right. Take care handling raw meat, keeping it separate from other food and sanitising surfaces and utensils which have come into contact with it including of course, hand washing.
