I'm thinking they must have done something illegal at some point donny. If so, put them before the courts. Not much else we can do otherwise if they have no other nationality.

The situation is a security and policing issue and is in the hands of MI5 and the police, not the government.
The returnees will only be prosecuted if enough evidence of criminality can be made to stick.
In the meantime they are probably subject to surveillance. (or one would hope so).

i would hope the government retains some control over police and mi5
